Shrine of Trials is a dungeon located in Fainweald’s Mushroom Village in Mortal Shell 2 where you get the Axe and Dagger. Getting in is pretty easy, but you’ll need the Chapel Key to access the dungeon entrance. Once inside, you’ll have to get through a secret wall and two stone pillar puzzles before defeating the final Knight in the weapon room. This page is a complete walkthrough for Shrine of Trials to help you clear it so you don’t waste time getting stuck or overthinking the puzzles.
How to Get the Chapel Key and Enter the Dungeon

Before entering the Chapel, you must retrieve the Chapel Key (or the Mushroom Village Key). From the Mushroom Village Beacon, head to the wooden bridge and cross it to the bonfire area where you will encounter a group of Babkas. So kill them first.

Beside the fire pit, you will find a stone illusory archway over a pile of skulls. Stand on the side of the arch where the fire is in front of you. When you look through the archway from that spot, it will reveal a statue that you can’t see normally.

Approach the statue from the archway and interact with the hanging rope to collect the Chapel Key.

Next, return the Mushroom Village Beacon and move past it west toward the Chapel building near the caged Grisha Hunter. Use the key to open the main doors, step into the dungeon entrance, and ride the lift down to the Shrine of Trials.
Shrine of Trials Walkthrough

Once inside the dungeon, you will enter a first chamber guarded by four cultists surrounding a statue. These casters will heal their allies and drag out the fight if not eliminated immediately. Defeat all the enemies, then interact with the plaque at the stone monument, which reads: “Gaze upon your king so true, back and back shall pass you through.”

This riddle line hides a clue to solve the King’s Statue puzzle. To solve it, stand in front of the king statue’s face. Turn your character around so your back faces the doorway/wall, and dash or walk backward directly into the wall. The fake wall will dissolve, revealing the path into the puzzle chamber.
First Stone Block Puzzle
Once in the first puzzle room, eliminate the patrolling Wraith. Stay clear of the iron maiden standing against the wall, as getting too close triggers another Wraith to burst out.
Note: Tunr immediate left after passing through the illusory wall opposite to the lit candles, you will find the Gloom tree you can attack for Gloom.

Approach the movable stone block on the right of the room and stand behind it. Then:
- Hit the block with a weapon to shove it forward.
- Again, attack the block from its right to push it left onto the pressure plate.
- With that, the doorway to the next chamber will open.
Second Stone Block Puzzle
The next room contains two stone blocks, two floor pressure plates, and two patrolling soldiers. Take down the enemies first so you can reposition the blocks without danger.

- Go to the left stone block first. Strike it to move it left, hit it again to move it forward, and hit it a third time to push it right.
- Move to the right block and strike it forward once to shove it onto the first pressure plate.
- Return to the first block and strike it back left so it gets placed squarely on the second pressure plate.
With both stone blocks pressed on both pressure plates at once, the gate to the final weapon room will remain permanently open.
Defeat the Knight & Claim the Axe and Dagger
Walk from the opened door in front left into the final chamber where you will face a heavy spear-wielding knight. He has long reach with his thrusts and sweeping strikes, but suffers from long recovery animations. Rely on parries, backstabs, or strong knockdown abilities (such as the Strikestone) to keep him off-balance and burn down his health bar.

After defeating the enemy, head to the candlelit altar at the back of the room to collect the Axe and Dagger. With the weapon in hand, interact with the entrance teleport prompt and take the lift back up to the open world to complete the Shrine of Trials dungeon in Mortal Shell 2.
