Deciding whether to invite Ambrus into Coen’s mind in The Blood of Dawnwalker depends on how you would like to play it out. Do you want a snarky backseat driver chirping at you for the rest of your journey across Vale Sangora? Sure, Ambrus has committed horrific atrocities against the local populace, but inviting him in gets you some extra banter and a helping hand in the final boss fight with Brencis. Here’s what happens with either choice and what you should do.
This article contains major spoilers for the game so leave low if you want to avoid plot reveals.
When Does the Ambrus Choice Appear?

The dialogue choice appears in the final conversation with Ambrus during The Gilded Gauntlet quest. After you defeat Ambrus in the fight and drink his Vrakhir blood, it will teleport Coen to Anachora (Vrakhiri Hell). Lieutenant Ambrus will beg for his life, presenting you with a prompt to either invite him in or ignore him:
- “I’ll invite you in.“: Sends his soul inside Coen, merging his essence with yours.
- “I don’t care. I owe you nothing“: Refuses his plea, leaving him to suffer eternal torment in Vrakhiri Hell.
Should You Invite Ambrus In in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
Yes, you should invite Ambrus in. Inviting him gives you entertaining dialogue, world storyline, and a helping hand in the endgame without negatively impacting your stats, abilities, or story endings. From then on, he will be a voice in your head and comment on parts of your journey.

- Ability & Corruption: No matter what you choose, you’ll still get the Scarlet Shield ability since you already drank Ambrus’s blood. It lets Coen heal whenever he executes a Perfect Block, which is a pretty solid defensive perk to have.
- Vampiric Powers: Your choice won’t increase Corruption or restrict you from any vampiric skill paths.
- Story Endings: Choosing to save or condemn Ambrus has zero negative impact on your main story ending outcomes.
If you’d rather have a quiet playthrough or want to roleplay Coen as someone who isn’t interested in cutting the Vrakhiri any slack, leave him behind.
Inviting Ambrus In: Outcomes and Consequences
If you decide to merge with Ambrus, he’ll be a permanent voice in Coen’s head for the rest of your playthrough. He’ll frequently weigh in on your choices, react during battles, and provide historical context about the other Vrakhiri boyars. Further, if you invite him and any other lieutenants, he’ll arrive to help during the final battle against Brencis. However, this is a double-edged sword because Brencis can manipulate him and turn Ambrus against you in the middle of the fight.
From a roleplay perspective, refusing Ambrus is the morally clean choice to avenge Coen’s family or if you wish to clear the Vrakhiri scum out of Vale Sangora. Sparing him serves as an act of mercy, showing that Coen can rise above his enemies.
