How to Sell Silver in The Blood of Dawnwalker

Silver is illegal, so here is where to move your contraband without a trial.

Pockets bursting with silver goblets, crosses, and jewelry while exploring Vale Sangora, only to find that every merchant refuses to trade them? Under the rule of Brencis and his Vampire Lords, silver is strictly contraband in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Because it poses a fatal threat to the Vrakhir, the silver’s trade has been banned, and anyone caught dealing in it will face execution (by the orders of Lord Brencis!).

Normal shopkeepers won’t accept items marked with a silver chalice icon. To turn that silver loot into Denarii, you must find the black market Silver Trader and prove that you’re someone he can trust before he’ll open his shop to you.

How to Sell Silver Items in The Blood of Dawnwalker

You can only sell silver to one special vendor in The Blood of Dawnwalker. This Silver Trader runs his operation out of a nondescript house in Svartrau City, located in the middle of the Vale Sangora.

Head to the southwest quarter of town toward the Neustadt District and follow the road leading to the gate of the diseased Middens. Enter the building, and you will find a man wearing a hooded green tunic. If you talk to him right away, it will yield nothing, as he will play dumb, deny being a merchant, and tell Coen to get lost. You will have to earn his trust before he agrees to show you his shop inventory, and that means meeting his prerequisites.

Once you meet one of the two requirements we’ll discuss next, a new dialogue option will appear. Choose “I know you trade in silver.” when prompted, and he will agree to buy silver from you. Silver goods sell for far more than the junk you’ve been looting. Most pieces go for a few hundred Denarii each, and selling 1,000 Denarii worth of silver will earn you the Smuggler trophy or achievement.

How to Unlock the Silver Trader

To unlock the Silver Trader in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you must either complete the Into the Den quest or reach Infamy Level 4 with the vampire court.

Into the Den Quest

The Blood of Dawnwalker Into the Den Quest Location

Available either during or after the prologue, this short side quest permanently unlocks the trader without grinding faction heat. Head northwest of Laslea Glen (northeast of the Blackwater Hollow / Northern Foothills area) until you find a cave entrance. Inside dwells a Ravenous Bear. Parry its directional claw swipes right as the indicator flashes, and side-dodge its red unblockable lunges. Once staggered, punish it with heavy strikes.

After killing the bear, walk to the back of the den to find a mutilated corpse. Interact with the remains to loot the Tattered Letter, which will mention hidden supplies stashed under an “X” mark at an old log clearing that will add the Into the Den quest to your log.

Follow the yellow objective marker west to an abandoned logging hut surrounded by wolves. Dispatch the pack, open the cabin door, and look on the wall for a stone inscribed with an X. Search the cache to loot equipment and the Letter with a Tip. Reading this document confirms that a secret silver fence operates in Svartrau’s Neustadt district. The quest will cost you 1 Time Segment, though it will prove your worth and unlock the dialogue you need to talk to the Silver Trader, regardless of your progression level.

Raise Your Infamy Level

If you skip the bear hunt, you can brute-force access through the game’s reputation system by increasing your hostility against the vampire court that levels up Coen’s Infamy rank. Target Brencis’ boyars, intercept prisoner caravans, burn stored blood reserves, and clear out roadside guard camps. Once your Infamy reaches Level 4, the fence will recognize your reputation as an enemy of the crown and drop his cautious act, and from then on, you’ll be able to do all your future deals with the Silver Trader.

Best Tips for Selling Silver

The Blood of Dawnwalker - Sell Silver dialogue prompt

  • Unload Contraband: The Silver Trader buys all silver items, including bowls, chalices, crosses, ore, dining utensils, and high-value jewelry. They will earn you far more Denarii than basic junk items like raw meat or stolen knick-knacks.
  • Check the Trader’s Inventory: This merchant also sells high-tier gear, so frequently check his stock for legendary items, including:
    • Kingslayer (Legendary Weapon)
    • Fear of the Wilds (Legendary Amulet)
    • The Shredder (Legendary Amulet)
    • Slicer’s Ring (Legendary Ring)
    • Slasher’s Pendant
    • Potent Powder of Sharp Mind

Before offloading a big silver haul, invest skill points into Bewitching Influence in the Witchcraft tree. Level 2 will grant you a flat +15% bonus to all item sale values, netting you way more coins for every silver piece you sell.
