After you defeat Boyar Bakir at the end of The Lunar Game quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you’ll face a crucial decision in the battle arena. If you choose to drain his blood, Coen enters the spirit realm of Anachora. There, Bakir claims he wants to stay behind, but calling his bluff with the “Drop the act” dialogue option triggers the major choice: invite his soul into Coen’s mind or refuse him and leave him in Anachora to his fate. This guide explains the outcomes of both Bakir choices in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Should You Invite Bakir In in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
The choice between inviting Bakir in or leaving him behind is just a personal preference between combat support and dialogue flair, as neither option has major consequences on the main story outcome.

Choice 1: Invite Bakir In (“I’ll invite you nonetheless.”)
Choosing to invite Bakir allows his soul to live inside Coen’s head for the rest of the adventure.
- Conversational Commentary: Bakir will regularly chime in with witty, unhinged commentary during quests and major decisions. He has no effect on the storyline beyond these comments.
- Final Battle Assistance: During the final confrontation against Brencis, Bakir’s soul temporarily manifests to attack and assist you in battle.
- The Catch: Shortly into the final fight, Brencis will forcefully absorb Bakir’s soul from Coen and turn his power against you.
Choice 2: Refuse Bakir (“Suit yourself.”)
If you refuse to invite Bakir, you will leave his soul to rot inside Anachora.
- Quiet Journey: Coen’s mind remains clear of Bakir’s frequent quips and commentary.
- Final Boss Gimmick: Because Bakir isn’t bound to Coen, Brencis will retain full access to his power from the start of the final battle, using his unique blood hawk attack against you.
When Does the Choice Appear?

This spiritual choice only appears right after you defeat Bakir in the vault at the end of The Lunar Games and drain him instead of killing him. If you choose to outright execute/kill Bakir there, or if you skip the quest and only fight this Vrakhir boss during the final castle siege, the Anachora scene will not happen, and the option to invite or refuse his soul will be completely unavailable, so decide before you leave Anachora.
I invited him. His comments are a fun addition, and I don’t mind hearing a vrakhir grumble in Coen’s head for the rest of the run. Take the Shadowstorm ability from draining him either way, since that reward doesn’t depend on this choice.
