If you’re like me, then you probably love a good quest, especially when it’s as juicy as the True Soul Nere quest in Baldur’s Gate 3. But, before you go headfirst into the twists and turns of this particular story, there’s a wee little hiccup: finding Elder Brithvar in BG3, a mysterious Duergar. I mean, it’s all well and good to have an important quest, but first things first. So, read this guide to know the location of this character.
Who is Elder Brithvar in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Elder Brithvar is an important character and plays a crucial role during Nere’s rescue mission in the questline. Now, I won’t spoil too much, but let’s just say that you’ve got to listen to his side of the story and convince him you’re trustworthy. The catch is that the game doesn’t exactly give you a neon sign pointing to him.
While the game is a bit coy about his exact whereabouts, I can tell you this: Elder Brithvar is chilling somewhere in the Underdark. But before you go wandering through the big dark underground realm, let’s narrow down our search.
Baldur’s Gate Elder Brithvar 3 Location
Once you make your way to Grymforge in BG3, there’s some chit-chat about a trapped True Soul in a nearby cave. Just as you’re about to check out the cave-in, Elder Brithvar makes his special appearance, but he’s not alone. He’s got another duergar companion, and together, they’re keen on getting some money from your party. They’re in a bit of a financial dispute with Nere, they are taking you as his partner and a member of his group, Absolute.
Once you’ve convinced him you’re not out to swindle him, he’s got a proposition for you. If you’re in the mood for a bit of mischief, you can team up with him by accepting his offer to kill Nere. But, before that, there’s a small errand involving the Scrying Eye you’ll need to handle. As the quest unfolds, you’ll eventually come face to face with Nere. When that happens, you’ve got a big choice on your hands: side with Nere (kill Brithvar and his gnomes’ party) or help Brithvar to kill Nere.
While you’re at Grymforge, don’t forget to pick up the Adamantine Forge and Mithral Ores. As with many choices in Baldur’s Gate 3, there’s no clear right or wrong. Whether you team up with Elder Brithvar or decide to go a different route, remember to enjoy the journey.
