Once you have reached the Miskatonic University Library Annex in The Sinking City 2, your main objective is to find the Ritual Book. You’ll also pick up supplies, documents, the ERC key, and a weapon upgrade along the way. Read this complete walkthrough to complete The Sinking City 2 Part 2 in the Library Annex.
Explore the Annex
After the cutscene with Ms. Bennett inside the Library, go around the fallen bookshelves. Open the small dresser to collect Gunpowder and move forward.
Go through the Archive door into the two office rooms, walk toward the far back right corner, and go past the glass door to enter the Reception area. An Emergency Relief Crate (ERC) is in Reception on the back left side. You cannot open it yet because you don’t have the key. Before leaving, take the Annex’s map from the wall on the right.
Move left from ERC, and you will come across the slightly open door between the offices and Reception. Enter through the doorway, go left, and walk down the corridor until you reach the room with the hanging Slither bait body on the left.
From the corpse, move left around the corner. Check the bench in front beside the seated body and pick up Lost Letters – Dominion.
Turn right from the bench to get into the Meeting Room. Pass through the glass door, then head to the blackboard left of the podium and the other sitting body to take Manifesto from the board.
Open the cabinet on the opposite side of the podium to collect the Handgun Ammo. After that, exit the Meeting Room and turn left around the corner leading to the Restroom.
Reach the Main Library Annex
You will see the large hole in the Restroom wall with the red glowing light. Squeeze through it and deal with the Slither waiting on the other side. After the fight, open the drawer behind the desk for Handgun Ammo. Next, use the right end door to enter the main Library Annex. Search the desks and nearby storage for supplies before advancing further into the chamber, then follow the main route toward the far end slope.
Just before the slope, check the desk directly in front of it to collect an Internal Memorandum. There is also a Gas Can in the main room. Keep track of its position because the fight that follows gives you a good chance to use it.
Go up the slope, turn right, and follow the path toward the back of the room where you will find a crank wheel beside the sliding shelves. Hold E to turn the wheel and lift the first shelf.
As soon as the shelf slides and you try to approach the opening, a monster will pop out from the other end and knock you down to the lower floor, where a couple other enemies join the fray in an attempt to smack you down. Don’t give them the chance. Stay mobile and use the desks to keep space between you and the enemies. The Gas Can can damage multiple targets at once, so use it when many foes close in. Otherwise, shoot their glowing weak spots to kill them in 2 or 3 shots.
Once the enemies are defeated, return to the slope. Another enemy will spawn there, so use the pistol to shoot and keep your distance. Once the area is secure, head back to the shelves you previously opened by the first crank wheel.
Get the Ritual Book
Move in from the newly shifted bookshelf and loot the dresser for Handgun Ammo. Find the second crank wheel on the right, and give it a spin. Backtrack to the first crank wheel to turn it once more to move the original shelf and clear your path forward. Walk through the cleared passage into the Restricted Section, enter the room, and take the glowing red Ritual Book. Trigger the cutscene, then go investigate the distant screaming because, of course, something is screaming.
Find the Source of the Noise
After you’ve obtained the book, turn around and shove the dresser out of the way to remove the barrier from the door. Move through it and keep following the hallway past the big plant. Keep moving along the balcony past the red doors until you reach a partially open door on your right where you’ll find Corentin inside.
After the conversation scene with Corentin, check the corner behind him to collect the E.R.C. Activator Pen and the E.R.C. – User Manual, then get into the Safe Room through the door on the right.
Get the Voss Compensator
Leave through the opposite Safe Room door and follow the path down via slope toward the large Annex room. At the bottom, hang a left onto the shortcut back toward Reception. Take down any fresh spawns lurking along the way.
Return to the Reception and use the E.R.C. Activator Pen on the locked Emergency Relief Crate. Inside, you’ll get the Voss’s Compensator, a weapon upgrade that lets your fully focused shots slow enemies down, giving you more control during fights. Next, return to Corentin’s room and exit through the Safe Room to the other end.
Return to your boat outside and follow the water toward the Devil’s Reef Hotel signs until you run into a blocked floodgate. Sail to the right of the gate to find the dock near the church. Park the boat and get out—this is where the next part of the quest starts, and you’ll have to open the floodgate.
