How to Unlock Rope Dart in Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet Nine Mortal Ways martial hall location

The Rope Dart has its related Skill Theft side quest, which triggers when you enter Kaifeng with a Rope Dart weapon equipped but without its martial arts unlocked. To complete the quest, you need to go inside the Nine Mortal Ways martial hall located west of South Gate Avenue, but the guard disciple Lu Youqi stops you at the entrance once you try to enter the Sect and mentions that no outsiders are allowed.

Talking to Mysterious Elder in Where Winds Meet

Turn back and go to the left side of the house just in front of the hall entrance, and talk to a Mysterious Elder (beggar) sitting on the ground, who tells you that disguising yourself as one of their own is the only way to get inside. If you directly talk to Elder, he won’t reveal the secret, so you must first interact with Lu Youqi before talking to him to update the quest objective. Mysterious Elder tells you that the Sect only allows entry to disciples, so you should become one.

Picturing Muddle for disguise

After the conversation, the quest will update with the new objective marker and point you towards Muddle, a Nine Mortal Ways disciple sitting outside near the martial hall entrance. A mask icon appears over his head if the disguise is unlocked, which can be acquired by completing the specific quest. We’ll explain how to unlock the disguise technique in the section below. Stand some distance away from Muddle, rotate the camera to focus on him, and draw his portrait. Disguise may be something new to you, as this is the first time you need it.

Note: To disguise as Muddle, Wuyan’s Makeup Level must be Level 2, which requires you to complete at least two of her Disguise Commissions.

Disguise into Muddle inside the shop

As you already have the Muddle portrait, request the shop owner to disguise you as a Sect disciple. But you only have 10–15 minutes until the effect remains active, so you need to hurry to enter the martial hall, do what’s needed inside, and walk away with the skill before your cover gets exposed.

As a disguise, you won’t be able to use Mystic Arts, jump, and other movement martial skills.
