Jubei grew up under a new identity as Lord Kitamori and earned his samurai rank after saving Lord Matsumae’s life. He later married and had a daughter named Kiku, but his wife passed away from an illness long before he crossed paths with Atsu again.
Later in The Oni tale’s first mission, The Road to Ishikari Plain, Atsu encounters her supposedly dead brother when he leads Matsumae troops under his Kitamori alias. They then fight side by side against Saito and the Yotei Six, but Jubei spends most of their time trying to convince Atsu to let go of her revenge and live a peaceful life.
Ghost of Yotei Ending: Final Battle and Jubei’s Death

At the beginning of Chapter II, The Storm Breaks, Jubei distracts a group of outlaws holding a hostage while Atsu covers him with a Tanegashima rifle from a distance.
