Where to Find Peridot in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Find out the Peridot gem locations and its uses in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

When you first start chipping away at rocks in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it might not be obvious what all the shiny gems are for but they have more purpose than just glittery collectibles. One of the first (and most useful) gems you’ll find is the shiny light green Peridot in early-game biomes. Though looks a normal gem, it plays a big role in your journey through the Dreamlight Valley to craft recipes, exchange with Star Coins at Goofy’s shops, progress through story quests like With Great Power, or grind out Dreamlight Duties. In this guide, we’ll tell you the Peridot locations in Disney Dreamlight Valley and what its uses are.

Where to Find Disney Dreamlight Valley Peridot

Mining black gem rock with green crystals that drop Peridot in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Peridots are available from very early in the game. You don’t need to scale any mountains or unlock far-off biomes; you will locate these minerals in two of the first accessible areas by mining black gem rocks:

  • Peaceful Meadow
  • Dazzle Beach

In the A Rift in Time expansion, you’ll also find Peridots in “The Grasslands” and “The Promenade” areas of Eternity Isle. To get a Peridot, equip your Pickaxe and break dark mineral nodes. In case you’re new to the rock-breaking business, these are the black rock formations usually found along the edges of cliffs or biomes with some have glowing green crystals, which always drop Peridot.

Even if you’re mining in the right place, you won’t always get a Peridot. The game uses RNG to drop the items. Sometimes you’ll get stone or coal, and a few other times a shiny green prize. Mineral nodes refresh about every five minutes, so if you mine everything in sight and come up empty, take a stroll, do some fishing, maybe talk to Mickey, and come back for another mining round.

How to Use Peridots in DDV

Sure, hoarding them is a perfectly valid life choice. But if you’re wondering what real use these glittery green gems have in the Valley, here’s where things get interesting.

Sell for Star Coins

Peridots sell for 200 Star Coins a pop. If you’re lucky enough to find a Shiny Peridot, the selling cost goes up to 800 Star Coins. So, it’s not bad for swinging a Pickaxe a few times.

Quests and Duties

Peridots are also connected to many key quests and duties:

  • In the main story quest With Great Power, a Peridot activates the first Magic Gate inside the Mystical Cave.
  • In The Missing Prince, you’ll be asked to collect five Peridots to earn a piece of Scrooge McDuck’s statue.
  • The Dreamlight Duty titled Mine Peridot challenges you to collect up to 120 Peridots with rewards scaling as you go

Crafting Recipes

Aside from being sparkly and valuable, Peridots are also a main ingredient in a few crafting recipes. Some decorative items won’t shine without them:

  • Green Light High Beach Torch
  • Green Light Low Beach Torch
  • Fireworks Mount
  • Mining Training Manual

So, before you sell your entire stash for a few coins, check the crafting bench first as you never know when you’ll need one (or five) for the next decoration project.
