Finding a Broken Guidance System is one of the most frustrating progression roadblocks in ARC Raiders right now. Required to complete step four of Expedition 3, this Rare industrial material cannot be crafted, bought, or salvaged from other gear, so you have to deploy topside and extract with one in one piece.
While the game technically tags them as Exodus loot, searching usual Exodus sites is a waste of time. Here’s everything you need to know to get a Broken Guidance System in ARC Raiders so you can complete the Third Expedition Project.
How to Find Broken Guidance System in ARC Raiders
Broken Guidance Systems can spawn in Industrial POIs with the factory icon on the map. Random containers can still surprise you, but sticking to Industrial areas gives you far better odds than roaming around without a plan.
My main targets are:
- Assembly and Lobby on Stella Montis
- Hydroponic Dome Complex, Research and Administration, and Power Generation Complex in Dam Battlegrounds
- Rocket Assembly on Spaceport
Broken Guidance Systems also have drop chances in Shipping Warehouse, Communications, Loading Bay, Assembly Workshops, and a few Industrial spots across The Blue Gate.
Stella Montis Locations
Stella Montis is the single best map for farming Rare and Epic materials, though its tight corridors lead to frequent PvP engagements. Focus your search on the northern workshops in Assembly Workshops and check all the blue cabinets, toolboxes, and loose loot drawers. If you get a favorable Broken Guidance System spawn near Assembly, hit it immediately before other squads arrive.
When you’re in the Lobby, head to the eastern stairwell and check out the rooms nearby. There’s tons of loot, so you have a great shot at finding a Broken Guidance System, but it’s a very tight space, so watch your back for campers or ambushes. For your next stops in Stella Montis, hit up the Communications Office and the Loading Bay since they are packed with industrial containers and usually have some decent high-level gear.
Dam Battlegrounds Locations
Dam Battlegrounds offers the most consistent spawn points for Broken Guidance Systems, though many of these locations are right in high-traffic PvP zones. First, visit the Hydroponic Dome Complex and thoroughly check the white domes. Don’t miss any metal shelving unit, breachable box, or red toolbox. A clean sweep most often drops at least one Broken Guidance System per raid, provided you spawn close enough to reach it before it gets picked clean.
Research & Administration is another solid place to look. Check the offices and hallways, particularly the Red Lockers near the Medical Room; just keep your head on a swivel since players love to camp there for easy kills. If you have obtained the Dam Control Tower Key, this high-tier locked room is a prime target. Search the control consoles where Broken Guidance Systems frequently spawn as loose loot resting atop the panels, alongside the room’s Red Lockers and Weapon Cases.
Power Generation Complex is similarly good and offers another Industrial-heavy route to work into your run. As the middle of Dam Battlegrounds gets pretty hectic as the raid goes on, I’d suggest sticking to one or two of these industrial areas instead of wandering into the map’s center hoping for a lucky container.
Spaceport Locations
The open layout of the Spaceport map makes loot more dispersed, though the heavy industrial infrastructure has a lot of reliable containers to wipe your hands clean. Instead of relying strictly on normal crates, inspect the big rockets under ongoing construction in or around Rocket Assembly. Breach open the panels with yellow warning labels to get your hands on hidden internal loot slots where the Broken Guidance System might drop.
Shipping Warehouse is another solid option, particularly when Rocket Assembly has already been picked clean. Vehicle Maintenance and Container Storage can also fit into a southern Spaceport path when you want some nearby areas to search. They offer a fast, relatively low-risk loot farm if you want to avoid the central Launch Towers.

Other Broken Guidance System Locations
If you prefer to avoid the constant firefights at Stella Montis or Dam Control Tower, The Blue Gate offers safer, out-of-the-way alternatives. Warehouse Complex, Adorned Wreckage, Checkpoint, and Transit Tunnels are all worth checking. The Maintenance Wing beneath the Checkpoint carries the highest drop chance on the map, though fighting in the narrow subterranean corridors can be risky.
Adorned Wreckage is along the perimeter of the map, far away from main player spawns, with a much lower threat profile, letting you loot in relative peace before making a getaway. Last but not least, Transit Tunnels is an optional place to search while rotating between major POIs.
Since loot is completely random, don’t sweat it if a location comes up empty. If you won’t find a single Broken Guidance System after a few raids, switch maps or try a different industrial area—you’ll have way better luck that way.
Because drops rely heavily on RNG, always keep a free slot in your Safe Pocket. The moment you pick Broken Guidance System, transfer it to your pocket. That way, even if you get ambushed by a squad or overrun by ARC machines on your way to the extraction hatch, the system will stay locked to your inventory when you return to base.
