Oni Armaments in Onimusha: Way of the Sword are special sub-weapons that consume your Blue Oni Power Gauge to deliver active tactical abilities. Unlike standard swords, these tools deal stamina damage, crowd control, health-siphoning, or temporary combat buffs. Oni Armaments give Musashi powerful special attacks and combat powers beyond his normal weapons. Most of these items can be collected during the story, but a few sit off the main path and are easy to walk past. This guide shows where to find all Oni Armaments across the main campaign in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, along with combat breakdown strategies for each weapon.
Oni Power Gauge Overview
When you use an Oni Armament, it consumes Blue Souls from your Oni Power Gauge. To refill these souls, defeat Genma, land strikes while operating in the Blazing State, or execute Break Issen on purple boss weak points. Further, upgrading individual Armaments requires Oni Stones and Red Souls in the skill tree.

All Oni Armaments in Onimusha Way of the Sword
The Two Celestials
- Location: Kiyomizu-dera Temple
- Mission: The Stage is Set at Kiyomizu
- Combat Function: Rapid dual-blade strikes that extract yellow healing souls

You will claim The Two Celestials as part of the opening story progression. Following the red Genma threads to clear the temple grounds, you will track the second thread deep into a cavern. Eliminate the spider Genma anchoring the thread to drop the barrier, then crack open the gold chest to get the armament.

The Two Celestials unleashes a fast flurry of dual-blade slashes in front of Musashi. Every successful strike forces enemies to drop Yellow Souls, which you absorb to heal. If your healing supplies (or Hozuki fruit) run dry during a drawn-out boss encounter, wielding The Two Celestials gives you quick healing without burning through your consumable stock.
Oni Bow
- Location: Kiyomizu-dera Temple (Oni Refuge)
- Mission: The Stage is Set at Kiyomizu
- Combat Function: Infinite ammo ranged attacks and distant seal breaking

Shortly after you obtain The Two Celestials, you will enter the Oni Refuge part of the temple caves. Just past the Spirit Mirror: Hall, the main story path funnels you toward an ornate chest resting on a raised wooden platform. Interact with it and collect the bow.
Unlike the rest of the arsenal, the Oni Bow doesn’t need the Oni Power Gauge, so no blue souls to fire. You can loose quick arrows to knock aerial targets out of the sky or hold the button for a charged shot that pierces targets. You will need these heavy shots to break purple barriers during the campaign, though they also work to pick off snipers across wide chasms.
Wind-Whipper
- Location: Kyoto Home Base (Practice Grounds/Takamura’s Training Ground)
- Mission: The Oni’s Apprentice
- Combat Function: 360-degree AoE whirlwind and projectile deflection

After progressing the campaign back to Kyoto, Ono Takamura introduces you to the training grounds via the well. He’ll have you run through a quick combat drill to learn how to Deflect. Finish the lesson, and Takamura will reward you with the Wind-Whipper you can collect from the chest.
Musashi sweeps the twin-bladed naginata in a wide circle, generating a localized vortex that pulls in and repeatedly staggers surrounding enemies. This spin blocks incoming projectiles from all directions. The strongest property of the Wind-Whipper is elemental absorption: if the blade clips an open flame, such as a standing brazier, torch, burning debris, or a flaming arrow, the whirlwind ignites into a firestorm that inflicts severe damage over time.
Earth-Shakers
- Location: Underground Laboratory, Underground Level 4
- Mission: What Lurks in the Shadows
- Combat Function: Massive blunt force that drains enemy stamina and shatters armor

Inside Dokyo’s testing facility in the Underground Laboratory, you will face an ambush in the room where a large spinning blade descends from the ceiling. Free yourself by shooting the four glowing spools driving the machinery with your Oni Bow. Once the contraption crashes, climb up over the mangled wreckage and open the chest near the pushcart in the immediate next room to claim the Earth-Shakers.

Musashi slams a pair of heavy Oni clubs into the ground or target and deals negligible direct health damage. A single swing from these heavy hammers tears through heavy shields, shatters elite Genma armor plating, and drains roughly half of an enemy’s or boss’s total Stamina Gauge. This tool is valuable for high-difficulty runs. Use this to instantly break elite guards and force bosses into a posture-broken state for instant Break Issen follow-ups. Because the windup animation is quite slow, execute the attack during an enemy’s recovery so you don’t get knocked out of the swing.
Firebird Flute
- Location: Eastern Kyoto
- Mission: A Tempest at the Temple / Shadows Fall
- Combat Function: Ranged fire projectiles that burn, stagger, and extend combos

While cleaning up the demonic incursions throughout Eastern Kyoto, head to the southern part of the district past Gojo Street – East Spirit Mirror. You will encounter a Genma Rift sealing an open shrine courtyard. Purge and absorb the Rift to dispel the nearby barrier that will reveal the Firebird Flute’s treasure chest.

The armament spawns a glowing ring behind Musashi and generates up to three fiery bird projectiles above your HUD meter. Press the skill input again to launch the birds outward in single bursts or as a charged volley. Each projectile tracks your locked target, deals burn status, and forces a hard knockback. It’s a great piece of gear to wield to knock down ranged archers or extend sword melee combos without revealing yourself to counterattacks. You can combine it with Wind-Whipper to create custom fire whirlwinds.
The Flashing Void
- Location: Mount Oe (Castle Courtyard Area)
- Mission: The Demon on the Mount
- Combat Function: Piercing lightning spear dealing catastrophic single-target damage

Advance along the north mountain path past the Castle Entrance Spirit Mirror. On the trail heading up toward the Castle Courtyard, look along the right-hand rock wall right before the main gate road. You will spot a narrow gap split in the cliffside. Squeeze Musashi through the crevice into the hidden grotto, then climb the stone steps up to the ruined shrine to find the chest just in front.

The Flashing Void is built exclusively for damage output. Musashi charges forward with a lightning-infused spear thrust that punches a big hole through boss health bars and outright executes high-threat elites like Hitotsume Sho swordsmen in one blow. Defeating enemies with this thrust forces them to yield a large cluster of Red Souls for skill upgrades.
Still Water
- Location: Arashiyama (Swamp Area)
- Mission: In the Light of an Icy Moon
- Combat Function: Katana damage buff, purple soul generation, and wave slash finisher

Fast travel to the Swamp 1 Spirit Mirror in the Arashiyama wetlands. Turn around and inspect the rock wall behind the lantern to find an archway leading into a submerged cavern. The tunnel floor is drenched in a river of Red Malice that drains health if you linger too long. Sprint directly through the corruption to reach the dry chamber at the far end, where the chest is placed among red spider lilies and stone lanterns.

Still Water works as an empowerment for the sword rather than an instant attack. It imbues Musashi’s main katana with enchanted Oni Power that causes normal sword swings to deal more damage and force enemies to drop Purple Souls, which rapidly fill the Oni Awakening Gauge. Before the Armament duration runs out, press the activation button a second time to expend the remaining charge into a wide golden wave slash. Wait until the buff gauge is on its final sliver before you deliver the wave that lets you maximize regular attack buffs while still cashing in on the high-damage projectile.
