Piragill is a Leviathan creature you will encounter in Monster Hunter Wilds. This Small Monster is the source of Piragill Fin in MH Wilds, but only if you hunt the right rank in the right zone. In-Game Description:
Leviathans whose bodies are covered with beautiful scales and sharp blades. As a pack, they work together to surround prey, but since most Piragill are too timid to make the kill, they usually wait for an opening and lunge all at once. Don’t underestimate them; in water, their speed is unmatched, and those blades will make mincemeat of a hunter that wanders too close.
Monster Hunter Wilds Piragill Location
Piragill is found exclusively in Scarlet Forest in Areas 9, 10, and 13. It travels in groups along rivers and lake edges, so when you spot one, more of its kind will usually be close by in the same stretch of water.
Zone 10 is the best place to farm Piragill because it’s next to a pop-up camp. Setting up camp there cuts travel time down to almost nothing on repeat runs. Piragill does not attack solo; the group waits for an opening and strikes together, so treat a single monster on the surface as a sign the rest are about to join the fray, not as an easy target to kill.
How to Farm Piragill Fin in MH Wilds
A Piragill’s rank decides which Fin version it will drop, and the two Fin types can’t be swapped in recipes.
Low Rank Piragill drops the regular Piragill Fin. The fastest way to guarantee Low Rank spawns is the optional quest A Sharp Sort, a 1-star hunt that asks you to kill eight Piragill.

If you only need the base fin, stick to Low Rank hunts; High Rank runs will only ever yield the plus version. To farm, talk to Alma and start a low‑star Scarlet Forest optional quest, then fast‑travel out and back to reset the Piragill population on the map.
If you’d rather skip hunting, Musharpeye at Wudwud Hideout in Scarlet Forest occasionally trades Piragill Fin+ for Sparkly Treasure, which you can collect in the same area. The trader’s stock rotates daily, so check back or rest at camp if the item is not listed yet.

Piragill Fins are mostly needed for early‑game armor and charms. They let you boost defense or unlock useful perks early in MH Wilds.
