You take a photo of a dilapidated farmhouse in Ruined Homestead for your new Outpost project in ARC Raiders, head over to the construction terminal to start building, and then hit a roadblock when the project demands Sheet Metal, but you don’t have it. Sheet Metal was introduced in the Frozen Trail update alongside Planks as foundational building materials for Outpost expansion, furniture crafting, and research infrastructure. The game calls it a common drop, but you’ll go through a lot of it, so it’s better to know where it piles up.
What Sheet Metal is Used For in ARC Raiders

Sheet Metal is a Common item required to build and furnish your topside Outpost. Progressing the early construction stages needs a batch of basic supplies right out of the gate:
- 5x Sheet Metal
- 3x Planks
- 10x ARC Alloy
- 3x Advanced Electrical Components
Outside of structural site requirements, you will need a steady supply of Sheet Metal to construct decorative furniture, craft outpost utility stations, or upgrade Research Station.

If you would rather not like to spend three raids digging through industrial trash, you can abandon the scavenger hunt and visit the Traders promenade in the Speranza and talk to Celeste, who sells one Sheet Metal and Plank for 3 Assorted Seeds.
Assorted Seeds are basically dirt in ARC Raiders. You can collect them passively by inspecting lockers, wild vegetation, trash piles, and residential clutter on any ARC Raiders map. Even by playing and looting casually, you’ll likely already have acquired a few seeds in your stash. Buying the 5 Sheet Metal for Outpost Stage 2 costs a measly 15 Assorted Seeds, a trade you can make in five seconds flat.
ARC Raiders Sheet Metal Locations

Sheet Metal in ARC Raiders mostly spawns as loose surface loot. Because the item is a thin, drab gray plate, it camouflages easily into rusty tables, concrete shelves, and workshop clutter. Keep your eyes peeled for flat surfaces around Industrial and Technological POIs, as the metal might deceive your eyes.
Sheet Metal Locations on Pendola Pass
Visit the Railyard on Pendola Pass where you’ll want to check the catwalks and control offices overlooking the tracks, or in particular, loot red industrial barrels, wooden workbenches, and rusty metal shelving units where plates spawn out in the open. Just south of the tracks, the Loading Platforms offer a dense cluster of shipping containers, open toolboxes, and wall lockers with good drop rates, which are most likely to net Sheet Metal.
Next, you can try your luck at Old Town, where you should go through the back alleys south of the Fallen Emperor; the rusted lean-tos and abandoned storage cubbies around the perimeter can spawn metal on benches.

Sheet Metal Locations on Stella Montis and Dam Battlegrounds
For Technological items, Stella Montis and Dam Battlegrounds are loaded with containers that remove your need to squint at floor clutter. In Stella Montis, head to the Assembly and Loading Bays and check the small yellow drawers on the maintenance walls, as these have almost guaranteed spawns for industrial basics.
When deployed on Dam, search the administrative offices and pump rooms on the ground floor inside the Water Treatment plant, then go to the Control Tower maintenance level to loot electrical consoles, tool carts, and wall lockers.
Sheet Metal Locations on Riven Tides
If you drop near the water on Riven Tides, the coastal industrial waterfront sets you up with fast scavenging paths. Start from the Port Authority Building, mainly the Dockmaster’s Office, where desks, rusted counters, and maintenance cubicles often spawn Sheet Metal. From there, move through the Stacking Yard to open and loot shipping containers, crane operator cabins, and the green wall cabinets inside the repair shacks right next to them.
