How to Change Outfits & Skins in Elden Ring Nightreign

Skins and outfits in Nightreign gives you enough room to express your inner fashionista.

Unlike the mainline Elden Ring where you could deck yourself out in individual pieces of armor, Nightreign plays by different rules. As a multiplayer-focused roguelike, the game features fixed classes known as “Nightfarers,” each with its own unique look and abilities. However, you can still personalize your character’s appearance but it’s not possible from the get-go.

To unlock the ability to change skins, you’ll need to earn your stripes by completing two full expeditions. These are grueling dungeon-like runs that will test your skills, patience, and teamwork. The first expedition is the Tricephalos Expedition which unlocks access to a few more expeditions. For the second one, you can choose whatever you like. Once both are completed, the character customization unlocks and you can then focus on your appearance work.

How to Unlock Skins & Outfits in Elden Ring Nightreign

For now, a new location is unlocked – the wardrobe room in the east wing of the Roundtable Hold. It’s also accessible directly through the Roundtable Hold’s fast travel map. Inside this chamber, you’ll find a mysterious mirror that’s your source to the Change Garb system, which is the main menu for all outfit and skin swaps in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Once the wardrobe system is unlocked, changing your look is pretty simple. Interact with the mirror to pull up the Change Garb menu, where you can view all available outfits for your current class. It’s here that you can preview, purchase, and equip new skins.

Each Nightfarer class starts with one default skin, and then two more including the Dawn and Darkness outfits you can unlock with the in-game currency, Murk. The money is earned through normal gameplay primarily at the end of expeditions, doesn’t matter you win or lose. The further you progress in a run, the more Murk you earn.

  • Dawn outfits are priced at 14,000-15,000 Murk.
  • Darkness outfits are expensive costing about 35,000 Murk.

After selecting a favorite skin in the menu, an icon (a sword and shield) will appear next to the currently equipped skin. You don’t have to worry about being stuck with just a couple of skins/looks per class if you don’t like them; there’s so much variety waiting down the road.

Free & Unlockable Skins Without Buying Through Murk

Though the maximum of appearance customizations will cost you Murk, Nightreign introduces a few other ways to unlock skins by playing through the game.

Every Nightfarer has their own Remembrance storyline. These are character-specific questlines connected to Journal entries in the Roundtable Hold. The quests tasks you to defeat mini-bosses or collect special items to unlock a Remembrance skin. The objectives require you to unlock all character’s Journal entries first, then select the Enter Remembrance button on their final page.

Other than this, defeat the final Nightlord boss in Nightreign, and you’ll get access to Throwback outfits for each class. Throwback skins are available for purchase at the mirror area at 7,500 Murk for every item.

Where and How to Get the Change Garb Mirror

Change Garb mirror location in Nightreign

The mirror in the Roundtable Hold is your main source for all things fashion in Nightreign. Once you’ve defeated two Nightlords (bosses found at the end of expeditions), the mirror becomes available and will appear as a fast travel location on the in-game map. You don’t have to remember the Hold’s layout; hop straight to the mirror when it’s time to style up.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Interact with the mirror.
  • Select the “Change Garb” option.
  • Choose the skin you want, preview it, and equip it.
  • If it’s locked, spend your Murk to purchase it.

As changing your outfits and appearance with different amazing skins is going to cost you a big sum of Murk throughout your Nightreign journey, so you should know how to farm more of this currency.

For that, play to the end of expeditions as the more progress you make, the more Murk you bank. Secondly, don’t keep the unused relics in inventory for no reason; sell them at the customization screen to top off your currency. Remembrance quests offer free skins, so consider finishing them instead of buying everything outright. Last but not least, Repetition pays – even if you die in a run you’ll still earn some Murk, so continuous grinding is the thing.

While Elden Ring: Nightreign doesn’t let you equip gauntlets, chest plates, and helmets piece by piece like the base game, the inclusion of skins and full outfits still gives you enough room to express your inner fashionista. From Dark Souls tributes to class-specific narratives, the game rewards both skill and style.
