What is Charging Mark?

Clair Obscure Expedition 33 Charging Mark Pictos

Charging Mark is a Pictos and a Lumina in the game’s equipment system. As a Pictos, you can equip it to a character to get passive stat increases. Once you’ve won four battles with it equipped, you’ll unlock its Lumina ability, which can then be assigned separately from the Pictos.

The main difference is that Pictos with grey icons haven’t had their Lumina learned yet, while those with blue icons and golden borders indicate that the Lumina has been unlocked. Every character can equip up to three Pictos at once, but you can’t double up on the same one across different characters.

Charging Mark Stats and Effects

  • Speed: 413
  • Critical Rate: 27%
  • Lumina Effect: Grants +20% of a Gradient Charge when you hit a target affected by the Mark. This effect triggers once per turn.
  • Lumina Points Cost: 10

The Lumina effect pairs exceptionally well with characters who frequently apply Mark, or when your team strategy is to attack Marked targets. Mark increases the next hit on an enemy by 50%, and when you combine it with Gradient Charge, you’ll get a heavy damage dealer.

At the Endless Night Sanctuary, a Level 25 area, you can buy the Charging Mark Picto for 100,050 Chroma from Anthonypo, a Gestral Merchant found in this sanctuary. It’s expensive, but considering the stat density and the utility of the effect, the investment pays off in combat.

Best Characters for Charging Mark Picto

Since the requirement to trigger the effect is to land a hit on a Marked enemy, there’s no restriction on who should use this. All characters including Gustave, Lune, Maelle, Sciel, Monoco, and Verso are excellent candidates. You can equip as many Luminas as you want, limited only by the available points. Level up your characters or use Colour of Lumina items to get more Lumina Points, so you can assign Luminas however you want.
