Every Battlefield has one gun that feels like a prank from the developers, a digital hazing ritual for anyone foolish enough to equip it. In Battlefield 6, that weapon is the LMR27 DMR, a gun so tragically underpowered that even the AI bots seem to pity you when you pull the trigger. It’s meant to bridge the gap between the punchy Assault Rifles and the long-range Sniper Rifles. But rather, it fell into that gap face-first. LMR27 is Battlefield 6’s biggest disappointment, and you’d rather tap-fire an M4A1 than try to make this thing work.
Battlefield 6’s LMR27 Feels Like It’s Fighting You, Not the Enemy
On paper, the DMR class should be the sweet spot with solid accuracy, decent range, and enough power to punish anyone who peeks the wrong angle. But the LMR27 didn’t get the memo. Each shot deals an extremely low 27 damage, meaning you’ll need to shoot at least four perfect hits to take down a target. That’s already brutal for a semi-auto, but it gets worse with the headshot multiplier being only 1.34x, so even if you hit skulls like aimbot Jesus, the game rewards you with a measly 36 damage per headshot.
For context, other DMRs like the M39 EMR or SVDM can delete someone with two crisp headshots. The LMR27, meanwhile, makes you feel like you’re politely asking enemies to consider dying sometime soon. And that was not enough to cry that it only comes with ten rounds per mag. Combine that with a high fire rate, and you’re reloading more often than shooting, less a firefight and more a reloading simulator with optional bullets.
The LMR27 may be one of the worst weapons I’ve ever used in a video game.

You’ll find Reddit threads filled with players comparing the LMR27 to gag weapons from other games, the kind of guns devs bring as inside jokes. One Redditor, laundrydetergent7000, posted: “The LMR27 may be one of the worst weapons I’ve ever used in a video game…. Completely useless and nearly unusable in every way.”
Even Battlefield veterans who can make any pea shooter work have thrown in the towel. Some have even tested it in the practice range, only to uninstall it right away. When the community would rather single-tap an M4A1 pretending it’s a DMR than use an actual DMR, you know something’s off.
It’s Only “Decent” After You Suffer Through 30 Levels
To give credit where it’s due, the LMR27 can become usable… eventually. Fully leveled up through Weapon Mastery progression, with all attachments unlocked, it then behaves like a competent weapon, but that grind is the real endgame boss.
You’ll need to unlock:
- The 20-round magazine at level 28 to stop reloading every five seconds.
- The Synthetic Tip ammo at level 38 to slightly bump headshot damage.
Even then, you only get 47 headshot damage and still need to deliver triple headshots to score a kill unless the opponent is already hurt. By the time you reach level 38 with this gun, you’ve probably developed mild PTSD and a new appreciation for every other weapon in the game.
If you somehow enjoy suffering, the best setup includes:
- SDO 3.5x scope
- Canted iron sights
- Synthetic Tip rounds
- 20-round mag
- 21.5” Factory barrel
But you could put all that effort into the M39 EMR or SVK-8.6 and have a way better time.
Looking at another angle, DICE might have intended the LMR27 as a skill gun that rewards patience and precision. But right now, it’s less “high skill” and more “high tolerance for disappointment.” The LMR27 looks the polar opposite of overpowered weapons like the M60 LMG or SGX SMG. In a game where nearly every gun has a place, this one is a reminder that not all balance experiments are successful.
It’s also likely to get buffed. EA DICE usually waits for a few weeks of data before patching the outliers, and judging by the memes flooding /r/Battlefield6, the message is clear from the community: “Fix the LMR27, we’re tired of shooting Nerf darts.”
Should You Use the LMR27?
If you want to max every weapon, prove a point, or punish yourself for missing shots last match, go ahead. It’s accurate, sure, you can laser across the map if somehow land every shot. But if you want to win fights, avoid it.
The LMR27 is Battlefield 6’s first certified “what were they thinking?” gun. It’s underpowered, unrewarding, and feels like a social experiment in frustration tolerance. Until it gets buffed (and it will, hopefully), it’s best to keep this one as a curiosity in your locker as a monument to poor design and player perseverance.
