Where to Get Expired Respirators in ARC Raiders

The blue rarity item everyone ignored until the Trophy Display demanded it.

Expired Respirators used to be the type of loot you’d scoff at in ARC Raiders. Despite being a blue rarity, they were junk—just good for quick 640 Credits, or can be broken down into a few Rubber Parts and Fabric. That changed with the Trophy Display project in the Headwinds update. To complete Stage 2: Soaring Menaces of this project, you need to stockpile three respirators. If you have ignored them since the game’s launch, you might be scratching your head on where to find Expired Respirators now when they matter. Here are the best locations where you can get them.

Expired Respirator is a Medical item, so you should ignore industrial or military zones and only look for them in Medical areas built for healthcare or research. Only three ARC Raiders maps have Medical loot locations where these respirators can spawn.

Dam Battlegrounds

Testing Annex in Dam Battlegrounds is the best place to find Expired Respirators – it’s a medical zone, so you’re bound to find some in almost every raid. You can find Testing Annex southeast of the Control Tower and Research & Administration on the map. This area is good for loot because it’s small, usually less chaotic than the city maps, and dense with lootable containers.

In the office spaces on the building’s first floor science lab, you’ll find glass panels and a lot of scientific equipment scattered across desks. For respirators, loot all filing cabinets, desk drawers (especially the white medical ones), medicine stands, and storage racks.

Luckily, I found two respirators from the drawers and a third on the medicine stand in my first run. As one needs only three parts for the Trophy Display project, I didn’t bother to loot the area further and immediately extracted, or I would have collected more of them. Thankfully, the Red Lake Balcony lift is just north of Testing Annex to safely extract.

Buried City

If you prefer density over safety, the Hospital in the northern end of Buried City is another good spot for Expired Respirators. Located northeast of the Library and just northwest of the Parking Garage, the Hospital’s building is very large and has multiple floors filled with potential spawns. However, it’s a hotspot for PvP and heavy machine resistance, so expect a fight.

If the Hospital is too crowded or already looted, search in the pharmacies at Plaza Rosa and Piazza Arbusto, and also wipe your loot hands clean in the Research building. I recommend playing this map topside during the active Night Raid condition, as the increase in high-level or rare loot spawns makes it easy to find unique items you would have trouble getting on the normal map. With the items in your inventory, you can leave through the extraction point found beneath the hospital.

Stella Montis & Spaceport

These are viable but generally riskier or less effective. On Stella Montis, the ground level of the Medical Research area contains Medical loot and can spawn Expired Respirators, but survival there is tough. Spaceport has a drop chance in the Departure Building, though it’s rarely worth a special trip just for this item.

If you spawn far from a medical zone, good chances are that other raiders will have cleared it by the time you arrive. Though players don’t loot every single item all the time, you’ll earn decent search XP regardless, and with good luck, the desired items as well. When you do get your hands on one, put it in your Safe Pocket immediately. It doesn’t matter if you die extracting; as long as it’s in the pocket, it will count for the project. Once you have your trio of masks, select Expired Respirator in the Soaring Menaces menu and click “Commit Resource” to unlock the Photoelectric Cloaks.
