How to Increase Coordination in Where Winds Meet

Coordination in Where Winds Meet increases mainly through specific oddities like Ironwing Mantis, with cultivation plays a limited role.

Coordination is an Exploration Attribute in Where Winds Meet, separate from combat stats and professions. You need it to unlock armor sets, gear, tools, and a few powerful exploration skills linked to craft, grapple, steal, and survivability. If you plan to wear mid- to late-game gear or unlock skills like fall damage immunity or improved Celestial Seize, you must have enough Coordination to meet an item’s unlock requirement. However, you can only increase Coordination through Oddities collection and Cultivate Abilities.

How to Get Coordination in Where Winds Meet

Collect Oddities

Oddities are small open-world interaction events marked by a bee-like icon on the minimap. You’ll naturally encounter them as you explore the world, but not all oddities level up the same stats. Only a few of them, like Ironwing Mantis and Redmist Beetle, increase Coordination, which confuses some players. Others raise different Exploration Attributes like Perception or Mindset, so turning in random oddities won’t always move the Coordination bar.

But if you ask for one Oddity specific that can best offer Coordination, you should farm Ironwing Mantis. They are purple insects that stay quiet on the ground until you interact with them. Once activated, they take off, fly a short distance, and land again. You can’t catch them mid-air, follow them, and grab them after they land.

Most failed attempts happen because players expect instant collection. Stay locked on, track where it lands, and pick it up the second time. If you think it flies off too fast, it can sometimes be due to camera control or performance quirks, but under normal conditions, it always lands somewhere nearby. Every time you interact with the Ironwing Mantis, you will get Coordination. Alternatively, Redmist Beetles appear above clusters of red mushrooms. Look up, climb, or jump to grab them. These also increase Coordination, though they are rarer than mantises.

There’s no in-game “show all oddities” button to find oddities fast, but you can make it easier by doing this:

  • Enable oddity icons on the map filters
  • Use Wind Sense when standing near an oddity marker
  • Explore between the Boundary Stones instead of wandering here and there

For more help, interactive maps help track known oddity spawn areas, especially for Ironwing Mantis routes in Qinghe and Kaifeng.

Turn in Oddities for Rewards

Once you have collected these critters and flowers, you need to turn them in to convert exploration into permanent stat growth and bonuses.  Head to Qi Sheng near the General’s Shrine Bounty Stone and submit oddities through the Melodies of Peace skill tree, where you can find a large number of nodes. This progression tree provides passive stat bonuses, gear unlocks, movement perks, and indirect power boosts.

Cultivate Abilities

When you click on Coordination in the stats screen, the game lists Cultivate Abilities as the second way of increasing it. Cultivation is linked to specific NPC manuals in highlighted regions, mostly south of Qinghe. These manuals aren’t repeatable farms. In most cases, you either ask an NPC for a manual, steal it with Celestial Seize, or use it once through the inventory interface. You can get Coordination, but it’s limited, easy to miss, and often already completed without the game clearly telling you. Misusing cultivation can also apply temporary sickness effects, which adds friction without real payoff.

Note: Cultivate Abilities are supplemental, not a reliable farming method.

If the stat screen keeps pointing you to the same location, you’ve likely already used the available manual there. There’s no repeatable loop, clean reset, and consistent gain compared to oddities. That’s why the Coordination collection by farming Ironwing Mantis is the best way.

Coordination Exploration Skills

Increasing Coordination also unlocks some Exploration skills, including:

  • Body of Iron – Ignore fall damage on a cooldown for 10 minutes. Needs 30 Coordination and 200 Total Aspiration Attributes to unlock.
  • Swift and Agile – Improves wrestling techniques. Requires 30 Coordination, 50 Constitution, and 400 Total Aspiration Attributes to unlock.
  • Thousand Hands – Level up Celestial Seize ability. Requires 75 Coordination, 50 Perception, and 600 Total Aspiration Attributes to unlock.
  • Divine Craftsman – Increase crafted item durability. Needs 75 Coordination, 50 Memory, and 400 Total Aspiration Attributes to unlock.
  • Lucky Break – Prevents durability on defeat. Requires 75 Resolve, 50 Coordination, and 600 Total Aspiration Attributes to unlock.

These skills scale alongside other attributes, which makes Coordination a long-term investment rather than a one-time requirement. The Attribute rises quietly, but once you focus on the right oddities, it climbs much faster than expected. It’s one of the systems Where Winds Meet hides in plain sight, and once you know about it, the progression wall completely disappears.
