Where Winds Meet Twelve Years of Feuds Walkthrough

A plague ridden village, secret keys, and one of Kaifeng’s darkest stories.

Twelve Years of Feuds (or Twelve Years of Grudges) is a 06 Jianghu Legacy Lost Chapter quest in the Kaifeng region of Where Winds Meet. It has a mix of everything: investigation, stealth, boss fights, and a time travel event that explains what happened in Sorrowfield Village years ago. The quest conclusion nets you the Toxic Arrow recipe alongside many other rewards that we’ll talk about later. Our guide explains how to start the Twelve Years of Feuds quest and walks you through all the objectives to complete it.

How to Start Twelve Years of Feuds in Where Winds Meet

You can only start Volume VI: Twelve Years of Feuds once you have completed the previous Lost Chapters in Kaifeng. Many players don’t see the quest because they haven’t finished Vol. I–V. After you complete the 05 Jianghu Legacy March of the Dead, the sixth Lost Chapter quest can be unlocked.

Talk to the Wayfarer of the Granary of Plenty to unlock it as shown in the above image. Head to Mistveil Forest in the Granary of Plenty, located south of the Sorrowfield Village. Teleport to the village landmark, find an injured merchant slumped beside a cart, and talk to him to trigger the Twelve Years of Feuds quest.

The merchant is injured and asks for your help. Use Wind Sense (R3/V) on him and apply Bone Fracture healing art to cure him. You don’t need to have leveled the Healer career beforehand, as the game walks you through it. When fully recovered, he will warn you about the nearby village being covered in mushrooms and spider webs, and a shadow figure walking around to the sound of bells. He tells you to stay away from the place, but ignore his warning and follow the next objective marker toward the village to examine the traces.

How to Investigate the Deserted Village

Outside big locked gate of shrine

Follow the road into the abandoned area. As you move further, you’ll find Fungal Clusters, corpses drained dry, and clues of the black shadow. Your camera quickly moves a couple of times to a shadow figure with bells in hand, who you have to chase, but he disappears when you approach. Keep following the quest markers until the trail leads to a shrine with a large door.

Fighting with hounds in shrine courtyard

The gate will be locked, so climb above the door’s roof to enter the shrine courtyard. The moment you land, three vicious hounds attack you in the yard. The dogs deal more damage than many early Kaifeng enemies, so don’t let them encircle you. Use a powerful weapon like Twinblades or shoot with fire arrows from a distance; parry their lunges and finish them quickly.

Village chief Zheng Zongxian conversation scene.

Once they’re down, the village chief Zheng Zongxian, affected with plague and coughing, will arrive with a covered face. Speak with him and choose dialogue options to tell him about the plague’s return, what he already knows, and ask about the missing villagers. He will brush you off and mention the shrine behind him is off limits, so you can’t enter the Ancestral Hall.

Exhaust all dialogues, exit the shrine yard through the same roof, and follow the voice mark to the rooftop. Go to the pointed spot to listen to a short conversation between the village chief and a kid. After that, you’ll need to return after dark. Either wait for nightfall or use the Clock icon in the menu to advance the time to Xu hour (around 19:00–23:00).

After the time has passed, follow the new marker on another damaged rooftop and eavesdrop on the conversation between Chief Zongxian and other villagers. During their talk, you’ll learn that Zheng Zongxian is carrying the shrine key.

When Zongxian leaves the room, use Celestial Seize from behind him to silently steal the Ancestral Hall Key.

Once snatched, return to the shrine’s locked inner gate in front of where you first met the chief and open it with the key. Inside, interact with the Mycelium-Wrapped Tablet in the middle beside trees, and your character will fall unconscious.

Untie Young Yilun in manor yard.

A cutscene triggers after the black screen, and you awaken in Kaifeng – Zheng Manor, during the Third Qianyou Era, twelve years ago. Snow is falling, flames rage in the distance, and a young boy, Shen Yilun, tied up near the manor’s entrance, calls for help.

Untie him and talk to him. He’s panicked about the fire, considers himself responsible for the tragedy, and begs you to help A’zheng and A’ruan, who are taken to the main residence by Bandit Leader Yiren. Follow him to the cliff’s end on the wooden platform and examine the burned village, where Young Shen Yilun points out the main residence location.

Next, use the Cloud Step skill to jump across the trees to land on the pointed rooftop, activate Hero’s Tomb checkpoint, and examine the situation in the village below, where bandits are lurking everywhere.

They have overrun the area, but can be killed with little to no effort, considering you’re a wuxia master at this game’s stage. Grab loot from the chests along the way if you want. After crossing paths with a few enemy groups and a narrow pass with fire moving past the Hero’s Tomb checkpoint, you will reach the Town Academy in no time.

How to Defeat He Yuezhi

Where Winds Meet He Yuezhi Boss Fight

Inside the Academy courtyard, He Yuezhi and his minions will be waiting for you, and they will attack right when you approach. Clear the archers first—they’re the biggest threat—then the heavy axe fighter, and finally deal with He Yuezhi. The boss is fast but predictable, with wide polearm sweeps and a jumping strike that can be parried for a huge stagger. Aggressive players with Twinblades or Meteor skills can pressure him. If you die, any minions you already eliminated won’t respawn, which makes retries easy.

Once he is defeated, move up the hill toward Zheng’s Main Residence. Three more bandits need to be killed at the top. Get the advantage of the explosive barrels as they speed up the clearing process. A couple of fire arrows will wipe out entire packs. At the top, enter the inner courtyard to trigger the final encounter.

How to Defeat Shen Yiren

Where Winds Meet Shen Yiren Boss Fight

With one ‘Kill‘ prompt, you can eliminate all of Bandit Leader – Shen Yiren’s followers immediately, leaving only the boss to fight. Shen Yiren uses a spear but switches to a bow for quick jump shots. His heavy spear combo hits must be parried, while most of his bow attacks are easy to sidestep. Be aware of Yiren’s move when he quickly rushes forward to you from a distance, and dodge/parry his long spear horizontal sweep attacks. At half HP, he leaps back and blankets the area in arrow rain; move to avoid this slow attack. Use fire arrows or elemental DoTs whenever you can for steady chip damage. Once you break his posture, execute him and end the duel.

Scene with sad Young Zheng E

After the fight, speak to distressed Young Zheng E to listen to his story.

Final conversation scene with Zheng Wenhuan.

As the emotional scene ends, the dream dissolves, and you return to the present. You’ll wake in a room northwest of the shrine, go outside to talk to Tomb Keeper Zheng Wenhuan. He tells you that you were found unconscious, and the events you have seen were the truth of the Zheng family tragedy 12 years ago. With this final conversation, Kaifeng’s Lost Chapter quest ends.
