Marvel Rivals Gorr Guide: Abilities, Teams and How to Play

How to butcher the competition without ruining your team's day.

Gorr the God Butcher joins the Marvel Rivals roster in Season 10, but he rejects the standard mold of a melee damage dealer. He is a Duelist who forces chaotic engagements rather than just trading blows. Gorr’s All-Black the Necrosword deals heavy close-range damage, yet his lethality relies on his Black Berserker minions, who provide sustain and extra pressure and also play their part as anchor points for his teleports.

He is a high mobility disruptor with a 350 total durability pool at full health and shield. A player can dive into a backline, force a target to panic, and vanish before the opposing team mounts a defense. This playstyle demands consistent movement and precise positioning. You cannot simply walk into a team fight and expect to survive. Gorr needs to cycle his abilities to keep his pressure. I’ve spent enough time on his kit to say one thing: Gorr is at his best when you treat his Berserkers like a resource, not disposable summons.

Marvel Rivals Gorr Character Abilities

Ability Type Description
All-Black Primary Fire Unleash up to 4-strike rapid combo with All-Black the Necrosword. Outward slices deal +20 damage compared to inward slices.
Necro-Power Secondary Fire Charge and launch a symbiote mass forward. Hitting an enemy slows and teleports nearby Black Berserkers to them, or spawns a new one. Arriving Berserkers unleash a two-strike melee attack to Launch Up nearby enemies before reverting to ranged mode.
Living Abyss Shift Surge forward as an Invincible symbiote mass, leaving a Black Berserker behind and driving all active Berserkers into a Frenzied State. Upon landing, manifest a Necroverse that continuously damages trapped enemies, converting them into Bonus Health.
Black Berserker E Lob a symbiote mass that spawns a Black Berserker on landing to immediately shoot the nearest enemy. If summoned beside an enemy via Necro-Power, it unleashes a two-strike melee attack instead.
Shadow Harvest F Warp to a selected Black Berserker, sacrificing it for Bonus Health equal to half its Health and triggering a symbiote explosion. Briefly unlocks Shadow Scythe: fire a piercing shockwave forward. All-Black then becomes a scythe for a set duration or 4 slashes.
Twilight of the Gods Ultimate (Q) Transform All-Black into the Annihilablade. Instantly spawn a Berserker beside all enemies in range. While active, slashes deal devastating damage. Berserkers in range will not expire and remain in a Frenzied State.
Symbiote Swarm Passive Black Berserker damage grants Gorr Bonus Health. Defeating an enemy instantly spawns a Black Berserker at their location.
Ragnarök Team-Up (Hela) Grants a scythe sweep that grounds enemies. Teaming with Hela increases sweep range by 2m and scatters healing fragments.
Hive Mind Team-Up (Venom) Fires a retraction claw to pull caught enemies toward Gorr. Teaming with Venom boosts minion damage and adds a slow effect.

How to Play Gorr in Marvel Rivals

Gorr in fight action in Marvel Rivals

Gorr is best as a high-sustain brawler who thrives on chaotic skirmishes. Because his base ranged presence is weak, you need to rely on flank routes and invulnerability frames to close the gap without taking free poke damage.

Throw a Berserker with E or cast Living Abyss (Shift) from behind cover before entering the fight to leave a minion out of line of sight. Keep track of distance; as long as you don’t exceed the max tether range with Necro-Power (RMB), that anchor minion will stay in safety.

Initiate with Living Abyss (Shift) into the enemy backline to apply your Necroverse aura. Immediately follow up with Necro-Power (RMB) to stack active minions onto your target for a launch-up CC. Deal melee damage, then cast Shadow Harvest (F) to teleport back to your safe anchor minion, converting it into Bonus Health and a ranged scythe attack.

Sitting on a 3-second cooldown, Shadow Harvest is your most crucial ability. Use it frequently to reposition, cycle temporary health, and dodge heavy incoming crowd control. Once you secure a single elimination, your passive automatically spawns another minion. Use this momentum to chain Shadow Harvest onto the new spawn, keeping your damage and health pool topped off as you beat the remaining targets.

Best Team Compositions for Gorr

Gorr shines when paired with aggressive dive Vanguards or heavy range-pressure heroes that distract the enemy team while he flanks.

  • Vanguards: Venom (triggers Hive Mind team-up for pulls and minion slows) and Magneto (provides bubble shields to protect Gorr during deep dives).
  • Duelists: Black Cat (complements high-mobility dive targets) or Punisher/Cyclops (melts targets from range, setting up easy low HP executions for Gorr’s passive).
  • Strategists: Mantis and Cloak & Dagger (provide essential ranged healing over time and damage buffs).

Gorr’s Biggest Weaknesses

Ranged teams can punish his approach

Gorr has a bulky model and struggles to exert pressure from a distance. If you cross an open lane against coordinated fire, you die. Take the long way. Stick to cover. It seems slow, but arriving at full health matters more than walking into a kill box. You cannot afford to lose half your life before the fight begins. Stay hidden, wait for the angle, and close the gap on your own terms.

His survival depends on Berserkers

Gorr without useful Berserkers is much less scary. Enemies should destroy your summons whenever they can safely do so. Losing them removes damage, Bonus Health opportunities, and teleport routes. That’s why careless Berserker placement is such a common way for Gorr players to throw fights.

Crowd control is dangerous

Gorr relies on mobility to survive. If he won’t move, he dies. Opponents who chain stuns, snares, slows, or knockbacks can ruin his engage before he gets into sword range. His invulnerable dash offers solid protection while he is closing the distance, but that ability has a cooldown. Once he burns it, he is vulnerable. A team that coordinates their disables can lock Gorr down and finish him before he finds an opening.

How to Counter Gorr in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals Gorr the God Butcher Character

Save hard control abilities like Emma Frost’s choke or Elsa Bloodstone’s traps for when Gorr commits his Living Abyss (Shift). Catching him in the combo prevents him from using Shadow Harvest (F) to escape.

Further, destroy his active Black Berserkers on the spot. Stripping Gorr of his deployables cuts his mobility, limits his burst output, and deprives him of Bonus Health generation. Moon Knight can punish his playstyle, using bouncing projectiles to take down minion clusters and Gorr simultaneously.
