A Plague Tale: Requiem – How to Kill Armored Enemies

Midway through A Plague Tale: Requiem, you will come across the armored enemies for the first time, and the game will guide how to deal with them. Remember, you’ll never win against an armored foe unless you first remove their defense plating. You should have to break the chain holding their armor with your slingshot. Once the protection is eliminated, they can be killed by a crossbow bolt pulling towards the chest or being doused in tar and set on fire.

A Plague Tale: Requiem Armored Enemies

The armored have two variants: The mace-wielding armored enemies have a clasp on their back while you can find it on the chest of the shield-wielding opponents. Here’s how to deal with each of these foes:

Mace-Wielding Armored Enemies

These armored enemies use blazing maces as weapons, and their armor chain is on their backs which you have to shatter to defeat them. You can avoid them throughout covert phases, though the scenario forces you to engage in some conflicts. Throwing Extinguis toward the opponent will generate a cloud of smoke to draw their attention away from the clasp, giving you enough time to fire.

By doing so, you’ll be able to sneak up on them from the back and remove the chain. Using your crossbow bolts to hit their chest or burning them with fire will do the trick. If you’re without a fire item or crossbow bolt, you can still throw an Ignifer at neighboring tar barrels to spark a fire or put some tar into your sling before you go for the ignite. They are so fragile that you even beat them with your knife.

Shield-Wielding Armored Enemies

Later in A Plague Tale: Requiem, you’ll face many adversaries wearing shields and heavy armor, and they’re far more dangerous than the previous ones. First, force them to release their shield by smearing tar on their torch. It is not difficult to throw the tar, but if you can’t find it, tar from your sling will do the work. However, you can jump toward the enemies before putting tar on their lights. The opponent behind the shield can repel any attacks directed towards them if they can spot you ahead. Put tar in a jar and then throw it to avoid being caught.

Unlike the mace-wielding enemies where the chain is on the back, you can find it on their chest, which can be seen after they drop their shields. Once the armor is removed, follow the same previous tactics, such as using a crossbow bolt or setting it on fire.

A Plague Tale: Requiem’s final chapters can be particularly challenging due to the sheer number of opponents you’ll face. But, you can easily deal with powerful enemies with the right gear and strategies. Try to keep your distance from the armored enemies if you don’t want to engage in combat because the battle will restart right away due to an instant-kill finisher.
