Wanderer Crest is one of the earliest big finds in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and with it, Hornet’s combat style looks close to the original Hollow Knight. This Crest reshapes Hornet’s entire moveset into a fast, tight style. Getting it, though, means braving a gauntlet of swampy tunnels, worm-infested passages, and a brutal arena fight. In this guide, we’ll tell exactly how to find Wanderer Crest in Silksong, including its location and effects.
Silksong Wanderer Crest Effects and Use
Wanderer Crest shifts your fighting style toward quick, precise cuts. Instead of long-reaching swings, your attacks become short but much snappier, letting you deal consistent DPS without committing to wide arcs.
On top of that:
- Downward attack becomes fast and more pogo-like, great for chaining hits on bosses.
- Dash slashes sharpen, giving you a speed-focused approach.
- 1 red slot (for weapon tools) and 2 yellow slots (for exploration tools), with more blue slots unlockable later via Memory Lockets.
This Crest basically rewards aggressive, agile play. It’s less forgiving on range but much better for weaving in and out of danger.
How to Get Wanderer Crest in Silksong
Before you go to hunt for the Wanderer Crest in Hollow Knight: Silksong, there are a few must-haves you need to take care of first:
- Silkspear unlocked (Mosshome) – You’ll need it for mobility and crowd clearing.
- Bell Beast defeated (The Marrow) – Progress requirement.
- Swift Step / Sprint ability (Deep Docks) – Important to cross cages and dodge hazards.
- Simple Key (500 Rosaries) – Buy it from Pebb in Bone Bottom, the merchant near the Bellways entrance.
If you’re broke, farm Rosaries at the Mosshome/Marrow border bench loop. Rest, kill the bugs, repeat – it’s the early-game money printer.
Head to the Wormways
Once you’ve obtained the Simple Key, make your way back up toward Mosshome. There are two main routes you can take, depending on what shortcuts you’ve unlocked:
- Elevator Route (fastest): From Bone Bottom, ride the elevator upward. At the top, keep climbing through the connected chambers until you reach the Mosshome entry. It’s the clean, quick path and avoids most of the headaches.
- The West Path (if you don’t have the elevator yet): Go through the Marrow instead, pushing westward until you hit the section with the cage platforms hanging over acid. This is where the Swift Step ability comes in use, you’ll need it to dash across the gaps. Time your movements carefully, and use pogo attacks on flying bugs if you need a little extra reach to the next cage.
Both paths funnel you toward a wide chamber crawling with a Craggler — an acid-spitting ceiling bug. You can fight it, but it’s easy to dash through before it vomits all over you. At the far end, spend the Simple Key to unlock the sealed gate into the Wormways.
Navigate the Wormways
The Wormways are nasty. Worms burst from ceilings, spike traps wait below, and the whole place seems to chew you alive. Follow the route below:
- Drop into the first pit. Stick to the right wall to avoid spikes as you descend.
- Follow the tunnels. Keep heading downward and right; the “safe” paths usually have moss or platforms.
- The Mossy Chamber. Eventually, you’ll fall into a large water-filled room. First, smash the wall on the right to open a shortcut back to the village and use the bench there.
- Cross the lake. Walk on the water and on the far side, you’ll spot a hut.
Inside the hut lies the gauntlet with four escalating waves of pilgrim enemies. It’s brutal if you’re underprepared:
- Wave 1 & 2: Basic pilgrims and crawlers, easily grouped and speared.
- Wave 3: Stronger variants, a mix of ranged and melee.
- Wave 4: Two round rolling brutes that will happily flatten you if you don’t first smash them down.
Use Silkspear in wide arcs to kill groups, and conserve Silk for Bind heals between waves. The fight is long enough that resource management matters as much as dodging.
Claim the Crest
Survive the rush, and the door opens. Head down and loop right into a dim, candlelit chamber. On the table lies a dead bug with the Crest waiting; Bind with it, and the Silksong Wanderer Crest adds to your inventory. If you loved pogoing bosses into the dirt in Hollow Knight, this is the Crest you’ll keep coming back to in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
