Hollow Knight: Silksong Fast Travel Guide

Learn about Bellways in Silksong and explore Pharloom without endless backtracking with fast travel system.

Exploring Pharloom in Hollow Knight: Silksong shows how sprawling and layered the world really is. Getting from one region to another on foot can take ages, especially where shortcuts branch in every direction. That’s where the game’s fast travel system comes in. Instead of Stagways from the first Hollow Knight, Silksong introduces Bellways, a network powered by the Bell Beast. Unlocking it takes some work, but once active, it saves so much backtracking. Here’s exactly how to unlock fast travel in Silksong with the Bell Stations spread across Pharloom.

Fast travel only becomes available once you free and defeat the Bell Beast in The Marrow. To trigger the fight, you’ll need the Silkspear ability, which unlocks in Bonebottom after binding at a Weaver shrine. Silkspear lets Hornet thrust forward, and it can also cut the silk bindings that trap the Bell Beast.

When you return to The Marrow, use Silkspear to get the webbing around the creature, and the boss fight begins. Bell Beast’s attacks are straightforward — a three-move loop of leaps, dashes, and rolling bells. Once you knock it into its second phase, it burrows underground and uses the bells more aggressively, but Silkspear allows you to safely tag it when it surfaces. Defeating the boss unlocks the Silk Heart ability (through a short dream sequence) and tames the Bell Beast for you. From now on, you can fast travel all over Pharloom through Bell Stations.

After defeating and taming the Bell Beast, you’ll find Bell Stations, or Pharloom Bellways, scattered across the map. These are marked by signposts with three arrows or bell motifs, and they function as your access points to the network. You have to unlock each Bellway at the cost of 50 Rosaries to activate the travel system.

Once you reach a Bell Station, strike the bell to call the Bell Beast. When appears, interact with the beast to open the travel menu and choose any other station from the menu you’ve already unlocked. The process is almost similar to Hollow Knight’s Stag Stations; you move between a growing chain of safe travel hubs. The more stations you discover, the easier exploration becomes. New zones often hide their Bellway entrances behind shortcuts or side routes, so it’s worth keeping an eye out whenever you enter fresh territory.

The game’s map is more vertical and punishing in its traversal. Shellwood’s cliffs, the traps of Greymoor, and the winding tunnels of Marrow all eat up time.  Each station you activate adds another link in the network, letting you cut out huge amounts of backtracking and making boss retries, NPC quests, and farming runs far quicker. In short, Silksong’s fast travel is one of the most important milestones in the early game.
