What is Goop in ARC Raiders?

The PvP slang for high-tier loot.

Spend more than a few raids topside or watch any ARC Raiders stream and you’ll hear it sooner than later: “That guy had goop” or “We need to extract with this goop.” It’s not an in-game term, yet it’s everywhere in player chat, voice comms, and content. Goop means high-tier loot in ARC Raiders. The term specifically refers to valuable gear and items that players collect during raids, particularly by eliminating other Raiders.

While “loot” is the generic term for anything you scavenge from the environment, Goop has a specific PvP connotation. It is the spoils of war. Technically, it’s an acronym for G.O.O.P. (Gear On Other Players or Gear Off Other Players), though most players only use it as a catch-all term for the top-tier items we all want to extract with.

Where the Term Goop Came From in ARC Raiders

Goop’s etymology goes way back. The term was originally coined and used by Rust and Escape from Tarkov creators Gingy and Spoonkid for the gear you rip off a dead body. However, it hit critical mass in ARC Raiders thanks to the popular streamer TheBurntPeanut.

According to players, Peanut either picked it up from another raider during a stream or brought it over from other extraction games he played. His audience latched onto it, and it became a viral catchphrase. Now, it’s the standard nomenclature for a large number of the game’s player base.

Demographically, this term is most famous among the young sector of fans. Community discussions claim the use is highest among males aged 20-24, followed closely by the 30 year olds who watch these streams. Older millennials and Gen X players normally stick to the traditional term “loot,” but goop is currently winning the culture war.

You’ll hear players use goop in the following scenarios during raids:

  • Low on supplies – A raider is low on resources and hunts other players to steal their gear (i.e., “Let’s go find some goop”).
  • Find loaded players – A raider has downed a player and realized their inventory is stacked with high-rarity items.
  • Ready to extract – Your backpack is loaded with valuable items, and you need to get out alive before you lose it all.

Who are the Bungulators?

The discussion for ARC Raiders goop isn’t complete if you don’t talk about the Bungulators. During the “Streamer Wars” of November 2025, roughly a month after launch, big content creators formed in-game factions like the Civilians of Speranza, the Merchants, and the Blue Origin Alliance. But the most chaotic group was The Bungulators, a loyal faction to TheBurntPeanut.

They identify each other in the lobby, team up (sometimes illicitly), and their war cry is essentially “Get the goop.” They’ve built an entire culture around terms like “goop” and phrases like “goopa gotta goop” and “little bit of goop.” If you see raiders rushing a body while shouting goop, it’s a Bungulator.

Critics call it cringe or “braindead Gen Alpha slang,” though statistics show TheBurntPeanut’s audience skews toward millennials and Gen Z in their 20s and 30s. Supporters think it’s just another gaming term like any generation creates, and it adds personality to the game’s culture. Despite the pushback, goop has become standard vocabulary in ARC Raiders. Whether you love it or hate it, you’ll hear it in voice chat, see it in text channels, and encounter it everywhere in the community.
