The Afterglow Lost Chapter side story is a Jianghu Legacy 05 in the Qinghe region of Where Winds Meet. It looks easy on paper: meet a fisherman, learn a skill, jump across a few floating jars. But it’s one of the game’s early movement skills tests, and the game wants you to perform clean double and triple jumps to reach a small midstream boat in the lake. To unlock Meteor Flight, the first real multi-jump lightness skill, you have to complete this challenge, and we’ll tell you how.
How to Start the Afterglow Quest in Where Winds Meet
Afterglow can be found in the Jianghu Legacy tab, and you can activate it from the Exploration menu, but you need to talk to the right NPC. So, head to Moonveil Mountain and speak with the Wayfarer at the above shown location to unlock the quest, which places its marker across the Witherwilds lake.

Speak to the Fisherman
Once the Jianghu Legacy – 05 Afterglow is tracked, follow the marker toward the Moonveil Mountain, and if you’ve already activated the Porcelain Kiln Boundary Stone, fast travel to save the walk. Follow the shoreline west from the landmark to find a fisherman at the lake’s edge. He will reveal himself as Qiu Yuehai, a master of both spearwork and lightness arts. He gives you a short QTE that offers the feel of Meteor Flight Mystic Art lightness skill, then sends you into the real trial.
Talk to Master Qiu and Start the Wine Jar Challenge
Talk to Master Qiu at the lakeshore, who then gives you a challenge: jump across a chain of oversized wine jars floating on the lake and reach a boat in the center. You have only 5 minutes to jump and dash from jar to jar to get to the boat, and dropping into the water resets you to the last jar you properly landed on. When ready to continue, select ‘Ready‘ when prompted to start the trial right away.
How to Reach the Midstream Boat
The jars are arranged to let you use the long jump kit that the game has silently taught since the opening hours. The spacing shifts between short hops and long gaps, where you need perfect timing on double and triple jumps.
- A single normal jump gets you to the first and second wine jars.
- From the second jar to reach the third, double jump and hit the second input at the jump arc’s peak to get the elevated height to cover more distance.
- To get from the third to the fourth and then to the fifth jar, these gaps need triple jumps. The gap is wide enough that a wrong timing in the air drops you in the lake. Pacing is important—don’t tap the emergency third jump early, trying to fix a sideways drift.
- Double jump and forward dash to reach the last wine jar.
- To jump on the boat, hop on. The distance is small but easy to overshoot if you’re overeager, so aim the camera slightly downward and land on the deck.

How to Equip and Use Meteor Flight
Meteor Flight isn’t active until you equip it. Open the menu and navigate to Esc → Develop → Abilities → Mystic Arts → Movement → and select Meteor Flight. Once equipped, hold jump, then chain up to three extra mid-air jumps to perform the full movement sequence. The quest asks you to use the technique a few times to make sure you get the hang of it.
Meteor Flight is only part of the Afterglow story. To fully unlock the skill, you’ll need the Afterglow Pendant through Qinghe’s exploration progress and reach Qinghe Area Exploration Level 4 (4,000 EXP). Open the map and click the region level to check progress. Chests, points of interest, hidden challenges, and oddities all count toward progress. Once you reach the required level, collect the pendant, and return to Master Qiu Yuehai.
Tell him you have found the Afterglow Pendant, and you will unlock full use of the lightness skills within Qinghe. Do note that this side activity only allows you to use these skills in current regions; every region requires you to reach Exploration Level 4 by exploring it to unlock the use of skills.
