How to Complete Roving Wisps in Path of Exile 2 (PoE2)

Path of Exile 2 loves to hide little distractions in its maps, and one of the trickiest comes as the Roving Wisps encounter in Kriar Village. On paper, it’s simple; follow the glowing wisps, smack down whatever monster they empower, and grab your loot. In practice, it’s left a lot of players scratching their heads thanks to a bug that makes it look like the task never ends. Here is what PoE 2 Roving Wisps are, how to clear them, and why your map still insists Roving Wisps POI is unfinished.

What are Roving Wisps?

Path of Exile 2 Roving Wisps

In the Interlude’s Kriar Village zone, you’ll notice a point of interest with the description states, “Follow the Wisps.” This isn’t a dialogue-heavy quest or a unique boss fight, it’s a roaming encounter around the Azmeri Wisps. These glowing orbs drift aimlessly until they transform into an Azmeri-Infused enemy. There are always three wisps in Kriar Village. Each one will find its monster, and each time you’ll get a fight with better-than-normal drops. That’s the entire quest—a small bonus gauntlet of infused rares.

Here’s how to proceed when you’re in the village:

  • First, clear a few regular mobs so you’re not ambushed while chasing wisps.
  • Spot a glowing orb drifting through the area that spawns at random places across the map.
  • Stick with it as it moves around corners or across courtyards until it slams into a rare enemy.
  • Kill the newly infused rare, get the loot, and repeat two more times.

After you’ve handled all three, you’ve finished the encounter. The wisps won’t respawn, and the loot is your main prize.

Even after you’ve cleared all three wisps, the map marker never fades out like other points of interest. It remains lit up, which makes completionists think that they missed something; it’s a visual bug. So although your map screams “incomplete,” the game engine knows you’re done. That’s why no more wisps spawn once you’ve killed all three infused rares.

Rewards to Complete Roving Wisps

If you were expecting a unique quest item or some big currency bonus—sorry to disappoint. The only reward you get is whatever loot the three Azmeri Infused monsters drop. It’s a guaranteed trio of boosted rare fights. There’s also a lot of confusion about the +40 Spirit bonus linked to Kriar Village. To be clear: that reward comes from beating the zone’s main boss, Lythara the Wayward Spear. The wisps have nothing to do with it.

Roving Wisps in PoE2 aren’t broken in terms of gameplay—they work exactly as intended once you find and follow them. The only broken part is the completion checkmark that never appears. So the next time you see that icon refusing to gray out, remember that you’re not bugged, your progress is. Until GGG fixes the glitch, that’s as complete as Kriar Village is going to get in Path of Exile 2.
