Warhorse Studios is bringing fans exactly what they’ve been asking for with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s next major expansion, Legacy of the Forge. Arriving within a few days on September 9, the DLC was originally planned for an autumn release, but it’s now set to come much earlier than expected, and with it comes a long list of long-requested features that players have been clamoring for since the first game.
At its core, Legacy of the Forge revolves around Henry rebuild his adoptive father Martin’s old smithy and carve out a name for himself among Kuttenberg’s blacksmith guild. That premise alone ties in nicely with the game’s grounded storytelling, but the real excitement brings its new systems and customization options. So, Legacy of the Forge finally gives players a proper Henry home, new ways to earn money, and, most importantly, the ability to create custom armor.
Henry Now Has a Real Home
For years, fans have begged Warhorse to give Henry a permanent place to live rather than him to have to rely on tavern beds for rest. Legacy of the Forge finally answers the call. Players can now restore Martin’s forge into a fully customizable home with over 100 million combinations for the workshop, living quarters, garden, and more. Though not as free-form as The Sims, the renovation system is deep enough to let you make Henry’s forge your personal thing, down to display collected weapons and shields, including the custom-painted ones from the KCD 2 Brushes With Death DLC.
The expansion to forge connects to a prestige system within the blacksmith’s guild, which unlocks cosmetic upgrades and new commissions. That means you decorate on one side and you climb the ranks, invest profits, and turn Henry into the master craftsman he was always destined to be on the other end.
Armor Crafting at Last Arrives in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Legacy of the Forge
A customizable home is great to be happy, but the biggest headline is armor crafting. Since the launch of KCD2, fans have continuously asked for the ability to forge their own armor instead of relying just on loot or quest rewards. With Legacy of the Forge DLC, Warhorse has finally delivered, though with a twist.
As Henry is canonically a weaponsmith and not an armorsmith, you won’t be hammering out breastplates yourself. Armor blueprints will be available to unlock, which you then hand over to an armorsmith you hire to ask him to craft the gear for you. It’s a smart compromise that keeps the game’s commitment to historical authenticity intact and still lets you personalize your loadouts in good ways.
The Expansion Brushes With Death Needed
Legacy of the Forge also upgrades features from the previous Brushes With Death DLC. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s first expansion’s highlight was shield painting, but there were limits not up to a good level—after all, not every player relies on shields in combat. Now, with the new forge home, you can hang your custom-painted shields on the walls for display.
At Gamescom in Germany, PCGameN’s member Jamie Hore learned that Mysteria Ecclesiae will be the final DLC, which will arrive sometime later in 2025. Legacy of the Forge is the ideal middle chapter; it’s far better than Brushes With Death with convincing game content and the most requested feature introduction.
If Brushes With Death was the appetizer, Legacy of the Forge is the hearty main course. And with its September 9 release date right around the corner, fans won’t have to wait long to finally step into Henry’s forge, commission their own armor, and build the home they’ve always wanted for Bohemia’s most relatable blacksmith.
