I have been grinding the new Fortnite update nonstop to hunt down every new addition, and the Pond Sprite, the community concept designed by Pine & Kiri (@matsubokiri), is one of the most interesting additions to our loot pool yet. This Epic-rarity Sprite is now live in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, and you can get it from Cheat Codes and, more rarely, regular Chests. It gives you a built-in vertical movement tool on your back, provided you know how to work around its quirky cooldowns and floaty physics.
How to Get Fortnite’s Pond Sprite Item

Getting your hands on the Pond Sprite comes down to targeted loot farming, boss fights, or leveraging the game’s bad luck protection mechanics:
- Cheat Codes: Open every purple (Epic) Cheat Code chest you encounter. Epic Cheat Codes have the highest drop rate for this Sprite. You don’t need a specific named location or a special Pond-only code. Since the v42.20 update, Rare and Epic Cheat Codes can spawn Sprites of different rarities, while high-tier codes give better odds of variants and rare Sprites.
- Boss Eliminations: Bosses like Adam Smasher, Eggman, or Hush hit the table with high drop rates for top-tier Sprites, making them a reliable alternative to chest farming.
- Bad-Luck Protection: Fortnite increases the drop probability for Sprites missing from your collection over time that makes targeted drops easier to find if you haven’t seen one in a while.
- Standard Chests: Rare drops from normal chests are possible, but they shouldn’t be your main focus.
- Bot Lobby Restriction: Bot lobbies do not spawn the Pond Sprite, so stick to usual lobbies or Ranked mode.
If RNG won’t play along, head over to dedicated Discord servers and trade with other players to snag the Sprite. Also, keep in mind that just finding it isn’t the end of the road—you have to make it to an extraction point. If you get killed before you get out, you’ll lose the item for good.
What Does the Pond Sprite Do in Fortnite?

Pond’s ability is a Super Jump. After you jump, you can jump again shortly afterward to trigger the enhanced leap, given the Sprite has a charge. Charges regenerate over time via the orb on your back, and you can store up to four charges. The Super Jump also makes you immune to fall damage, which is a big part of why Pond is good for aggressive rotations and high-ground plays.
When you upgrade the Sprite by opening chests and scoring eliminations, it increases your max jump height and speeds up the charge regen. Although the mobility gets you out of tight spots, the floaty air time leaves you exposed to hitscan weapons like the Mammoth Pistol or snipers. Time your jumps carefully around high ground pushes instead of open field escapes.
I prefer to use Pond Sprite most for quick height changes, escape pressure, cross awkward terrain, and take aggressive routes that would normally cost health because of fall damage. It’s a mobility tool first, and a very good one.
