Even the fierest enemy in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers can turn into the most intriguing allies, at least for a little while. Commander Honglan is one of the hardest early-game bosses, but later, you’ll find her locked up in a Bride’s Boudoir prison in Cloudspire, waiting for outside help. Though an optional task, freeing her gives you the valuable Jade Pendant and progresses one of the game’s interesting NPC questlines. Here’s how to find Honglan in Bride’s Boudoir in Wuchang, get the Dungeon Key, and set her free from the cell.
Where to Find the Bride’s Boudoir Prison Cell in Wuchang Fallen Feathers
The Bride’s Boudoir is located in Mt. Zhenwu, and you’ll first need to reach this section of the game. Once there, activate the Bride’s Boudoir Shrine to get a quick respawn point. It will save you time if you make a wrong move or get knocked out during the run. From the shrine, head into a dimly lit corridor patrolled by two female enemies. These foes can stagger you quickly if you let them attack in tandem, so take your time, use corners for cover, and take them down to move forward.
Past the hallway to reach a narrow wooden bridge rigged with swinging spiked pillars. Wait for the spikes to swing away from you before crossing one, and be ready to dodge roll if an enemy tries to ambush you. Once crossed to the other end, you’ll enter a small chamber, which is the prison entrance. Clear the minor enemy inside, then head down the left staircase to reach a lower floor.
There is one large enemy in a small hallway before the prison cells; kill him and then drop down to find Commander Honglan behind bars. Instead of being hostile, she greets you with a mix of pride and annoyance, reminding you she once held the upper hand and says she doesn’t truly need saving, but she’s still asking for your help. She’ll tell you the cell can be opened with a Dungeon Key, which is in a nearby room but guarded.
How to Free Honglan from Prison in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
From Honglan’s cell, turn back toward the chamber you came from and take the opposite door. This leads to a small, cramped combat arena where two tough female enemies are stationed:
- Melee Fighter — rushes in aggressively with combos that can break your poise.
- Knife Thrower — keeps her distance and peppers you with fast, ranged attacks.
It’s more safe to pull one enemy toward you by inching forward until just one notices you. If both aggro, use the pillars in the room to block line-of-sight from the knife thrower and deal with the melee enemy first. Defeat both and loot the Dungeon Key from the table or floor in the back of the room.
Return to the cell and hand over the Dungeon Key. Honglan will leave without much sentiment, but she does give you the Coiled Dragon Pendant as a thank-you reward, a valuable item that increases the powers of weapon skills. From here, she disappears from the area, and the next step in her story won’t unfold until much later in the game.
