How to Solve the Hexagon Puzzle in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Here’s everything you need to complete RE4’s trickiest pedestal puzzle.

Among the many puzzles in Resident Evil 4 Remake, the Hexagon Puzzle in Chapter 3 is one of the most challenging to complete. Chapter 3 concludes with a puzzle involving a stone pedestal and Hexagonal pieces. If you’re stuck on this challenge and can’t seem to make any progress, don’t worry; the next Chapter 4 is the solution to that.

To solve the puzzle, you must track down three Hexagonal parts hidden at different spots and fill the gaps with the provided Hexagonal pieces. Read this guide on how to complete the Resident Evil 4 Remake Hexagon Puzzle by finding all three pieces, where to slot them, and how to rotate them into the correct solution.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Hexagon Puzzle Solution Guide

Early on in Resident Evil 4 Remake right around Chapter 3, you’ll come across a stone pedestal at the Fish Farm area. If you take a look at it, you’ll notice a stone mechanism in the ground missing a few parts. The stone pedestal has a triangular base and three clear slots shaped to hold Hexagonal tiles. You won’t be solving the puzzle right then and there; the game wants you to track down three specific pieces, labeled A, B, and C.

Find the Hexagon Pieces A, B, and C

Let’s break down where each piece is, in order of how you’re likely to encounter them as you progress through the storyline.

Hexagon Piece A location in Resident Evil 4 Remake

  • Hexagon Piece A: The first part is located inside a small chest near the Merchant’s shop, right outside the Mural Cave. You’ll most likely come across this Merchant for the first time in Chapter 3, just off the main path. Make sure to loot everything in the vicinity before moving on from this area.

Hexagon Piece B location in Resident Evil 4 Remake

  • Hexagon Piece B: The second piece is found in the Fish Farm, a watery zone with planks everywhere and enemies ready to attack. You’ll need to make your way through this area as part of the story anyway to get Boat Fuel. Look for the northwest part of the farm where you’ll see a wooden shack on stilts partially submerged. Inside, there’s a small treasure chest on a barrel with a Hexagon piece inside. Reaching it might be tricky as the layout of the Fish Farm can be disorienting with all the splashing and ducking around corners. Keep heading left and upward when you enter the area, and you’ll get there.

Hexagon Piece C location in Resident Evil 4 Remake

  • Hexagon Piece C: This one comes later in Chapter 4, after you’ve unlocked the boat by defeating Del Lago. Once you’re able to cruise around the lake, head back to the previously inaccessible Small Cave Shrine located on the eastern side of the lake. To open the door to this shrine, you’ll need to collect three Blasphemer-themed key items from the mural puzzles. These are part of the main story route, so you’ll naturally end up solving them. Once inside the Small Cave Shrine, loot the chest to get Hexagon Piece C.

Solve the Hexagon Puzzle

With all three Hexagon pieces in your inventory, return to the stone pedestal at the Fish Farm area (or wherever you left it depending on your exploration path). To finish the task, you should rotate the Hexagonal tiles into the correct orientation. The goal is to complete an image — it’s a puzzle that shows a mural-like pattern of an animal figure.

What makes this one complex is the rotation system as each segment rotates individually, but the result doesn’t always look “wrong” until you see the full picture. Align the tile with the bird emblem in the center first, then work your way outward. If you’re stuck, use this as your visual reference — imagine a winged creature centered in the middle tile, and two wings spread to the side tiles. Here is the order to solve: spin the bottom right group of pieces twice, then spin the bottom left group twice, and lastly rotate the top center three-piece group once.

Once you’ve slotted the tiles and rotated them into the right shape, the pedestal will unlock with a clunk. Inside the compartment, you will get the Depraved Idol, a valuable item. While it doesn’t serve any functional gameplay purpose, it’s a high-value treasure you can sell to the Merchant. It nets you 15,000 Pesetas, which can go a long way toward weapon upgrades, buy new gear, or top off your stockpile of ammo and health sprays.
