During the first mission, “The Invitation,” on Kepler in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate campaign, you will be tasked to charge the pylons or unlock the room containing the materials named Acceleron. This quest part can be complex to progress due to its vague prompts and the new traversal abilities. Our guide explains where to find pylons in Destiny 2 and how to secure the Acceleron chest to continue your journey.

Where to Find and Charge the Pylons in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate
During “The Invitation,” you will investigate a distress signal on Kepler, fight your way through Corsairs and Fallen troops with Ikora and the Drifter. After a few waves of enemies and a talk with Ikora, you will encounter a strange arc-powered ability called Matterspark.
It’s your first new mechanic of the campaign, which transforms you into an energy ball that can roll, jump, dash, and squeeze through tight vents. You’ll use it heavily to charge things, reach hidden paths, and access puzzle areas. Without the Matterspark form, you won’t be able to interact with key parts of the mission, like the pylons you are going to deal with here.
Once you’ve tested Matterspark and made some progress, the next objective is to defeat the Crystalline Captain. This enemy is tanky but manageable. Defeating him tasks you to charge three pylons available in the same area where you fight the Captain. This is the part where most Guardians pause and think, “Wait, where are the pylons exactly?” Here’s where to find them:
- Pylon #1: After the Crystalline Captain goes down, look ahead and slightly left of the center. It’s by the mechanism where you previously activated Matterspark. In this form, roll up to it and use your attack input to power it.
- Pylon #2: Head back toward the entrance of the room, to the far left wall if you’re facing from the center outward. There’s another pylon in a small recess. Again, make sure to be in Matterspark form or you won’t be able to interact with it.
- Pylon #3: From Pylon 2, pivot to the right end of the map, and you’ll spot a raised platform that seems inaccessible on foot. Combine a Jump + Dash maneuver while in ball form to reach the elevated spot. Up there sits your third and final pylon.
Charging all three will trigger a visual pulse and your next objective, “Find the Acceleron.”

How to Unlock the Acceleron Room
With the pylons charged, the mission doesn’t tell you where to go but now, the Acceleron has spawned in a locked room nearby, inside a loot chest. You’ve likely seen the room already but couldn’t access it before.
From the pylon area, head to the lower level of the room; there’s a downward path on the right side of the combat zone. Look on the left as you descend to see a glowing tube/pipe entrance you can crawl into, but only in Matterspark form. Enter the pipe, move through a tight corridor to get inside the previously locked room. Loot the chest to get items including the Acceleron.
Once you have the Acceleron, follow the objective marker back to the Mechanism, where you’ll witness a cutscene introducing Lodi, so trigger all cutscenes. Then, head into the next quest phase to return to the Altar of Relativity—a ritual hub on Kepler. Here, you’ll:
- Attempt to insert the Strangelet Capsule (the item links to Acceleron)
- Realize there’s no power
- Be directed to activate two levers around the facility
- Finally, return and complete “Perform Rite of Ignition.“
Once the altar is reactivated, you’ll be unlock the official Edge of Fate campaign questline, and it branches into two major quest paths involving Central Academy and Exile’s Accord. Both are important but you can pick either to continue.
