Can You Join Multiple Sects in Where Winds Meet?

One dojo at a time and the game means it.

Just like sweet bread is not complete without honey, there can’t be a wuxia game without sects, and Where Winds Meet has a lot of them. These sects have their own rules, combat perks, cosmetics, and exclusive shops, so the first instinct most players likely have is to join all the sects and get everything they can. But you can’t be loyal to multiple sects at the same time, and it’s very intentional. Sects are almost long-term allegiances rather than casual factions, and the betrayal is a serious thing in WWM.

In short, you cannot join multiple sects at once in Where Winds Meet. One character, one dojo – that’s the rule. Once you enter a martial school, every other sect gets locked out until you leave or betray the current one. But nothing stops you from switching sects later on. Many players do that, especially when they want to hunt cosmetics, techniques, or shop items from different sects. That said, each dojo enforces its own rules by reputation and rank, and you must participate in its specific activities to continue progress. Once membership is accepted, your character must follow the sect’s principles. Going against the rules gets you in trouble or kicked out.

Can You Switch Sects Later?

Well of Heaven Sect Where Winds Meet

Yes, but it’s not simple to switch a sect. To leave one, you need to betray your current sect master, which removes you from the group, wipes the rank and titles, and triggers a penalty. Depending on the sect, this can be:

  • A severe trial where you will be hunted down or forced into special combat,
  • pay coins instead of fight for some dojos,
  • a cooldown period before you can rejoin it.

After the penalty, you will be free to seek membership in a different sect and start progress from the lowest rank.

Do You Lose Rewards When You Leave?

Upon betrayal, sect rank, titles, reputation, and shop access will be removed, and any unclaimed rewards won’t be available. However, all items you already purchased or unlocked, including cosmetics, weapons, and techniques, are permanent. Because of this, players mostly buy all valuable stuff from the sect’s shop and then exit if they don’t want to be part of it. Once access is lost, items cannot be purchased again unless you rejoin and re-grind the sect.

Can You Rejoin a Sect You Left?

Sect Rules screenshot

Yes, you can re-enter any sect, but with restrictions. Once left, you have to wait 24 hours before you can earn the membership again. If you do join the sect, you will be restricted for six days before you can betray it once more. Further, all its progress will restart from zero. These limits stop the quick sects farm and reinforce the consequences of why you left at first.

What If You Don’t Join Any Sect?

Remaining sectless is a valid. Main game elements like story progression, exploration, and battle won’t be restricted. You can still unlock techniques exclusive to sects through Mystic Arts that allow skill theft from NPCs, but access is the tradeoff. Sect shops or cosmetics will be unavailable, but you’re not crippled either; there is so much to do and earn in Where Winds Meet, even when you ignore the sects.
