Qinghe’s main story completion doesn’t unlock The Final Destiny – Qinghe in Where Winds Meet. That’s the part that catches a lot of players, because there’s no map or quest tracker to progress. The achievement is locked behind the Tales and Echoes exploration mechanic, and until this system is completed, the campaign’s ending cutscene is nothing more than a placeholder. Here’s how to unlock The Final Destiny – Qinghe trophy along with the main story ending in Where Winds Meet.

Why the Main Story isn’t Enough?

Because Tales and Echoes has two separate progression tracks for every region, and you must finish both. The first one, Bright Tide, is the straightforward path and fills automatically as you complete the main story missions and campaigns. Dark Surge is the “dark” side and is made of scattered fragments hidden across Qinghe, earned through Jianghu Legacies, side encounters, and Wandering Tales.

Once both sides of the coin are complete, you’ll unlock the final story quest that leads to the trophy and some additional rewards.

How to Complete the Bright Tide

Progress through Qinghe’s main story chapters and finish the major campaigns of the region, including Granary of Plenty against the Zheng E boss. Each story beat you finish lights up a corresponding node on the Bright Tide side. If there are missing nodes here, check for unfinished chapters in the main questline of the region, since Bright Tide only tracks the core story.

How to Find Dark Surge Fragments

Completing the Dark Surge is where most players hit a brick wall. There are multiple sets of narrative nodes you must unlock.

Clear the Map of Encounters

The quickest way to fill your Dark Surge book is to complete the side content in Qinghe. Many fragments are locked behind specific world encounters, Wandering Tales, and campaigns. Focus on major regional spots such as:

  • Gleaming Abyss
  • Tian Ying
  • Hanging Blade
  • Breeze Post

Tip: If you get stuck while searching for a missing fragment, use the in-game menu, open the Q&A section (the little bird icon), and ask it about “Dark Surge.” It will often provide targeted hints pointing you toward the fragments or area you still need to complete.

The Missable Fragment: Theft at Heavens Pier

The first node fragment of the second dark set, Theft at Heavens Pier, is easy to miss if you’ve progressed too far in the story. Before Heavens Pier burns down, talk to Zhang Dazhuang in the brewery backyard to unlock the fragment. That’s the intended method.

Once Heavens Pier is destroyed, the NPC survives the fire and moves to Harvestfall, but he will only sit there drinking and refuse to hand over the item.

You can still get it another way after the disaster:

  1. Go to the riverside path between the Heaven’s Pier Landmark and West Heaven’s Pier Landmark
  2. Find a fenced wooden entrance beside a tree-covered mound which leads to a small thatched cabin with a boat docked outside.
  3. Change the in-game time to Shen Hour or Chen Hour, then enter the cabin. You’ll find Zhang Jiushu lying on the floor.
  4. Open his AI Chat box. To bypass finding a physical item, copy/paste this exact roleplay prompt to change your relationship to Revered:
(holding up a worn lead hammer) Master Zhang, I came across this while foraging by the fence. Does this look like the plummet you lost? (bowing slightly, offering the plummet with both hands) Please—take it back.
  5. Once his status turns Old Friend, talk to him again to receive Theft at Heavens Pier. If it doesn’t appear immediately, visit the bell tower NPC in Harvestfall during the day instead.

Alternatively, you can join a lower-level co-op world where the village has not burned down yet, but you must speak to Zhang Dazhuang before the host does to trigger the unlock.

Granary of Plenty Campaign

Defeating Zhang E does not finish the Granary of Plenty campaign, and there’s one last objective after the boss fight. Go behind the Granary of Plenty and find the house with the large pagoda beside the river and pick up the hidden letter inside. Take the letter to the marked house in Apricot Village, place it there, then return to Zhang E’s house. Interact with the table, and the campaign will register as complete.

Unlock The Final Destiny – Qinghe

After you’ve collected every Dark Surge fragment, finished the Bright Tide, and completed the Jianghu Legacies, you’ll receive a Buddha key.

Visit Halo Peak and use the key to unlock the sealed house that starts Qinghe’s final story sequence. Finish it, and the “The Final Destiny – Qinghe” trophy will unlock along with Echo Jades, Exploration Points, and a large amount of character EXP.
