Where to Find the Legendary Namazu Mount in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Okishima Island is located in the middle of Lake Biwa in the Omi region. It’s easy to reach if you have unlocked the Okishima Kakurega or visited the lake during story missions. But even if you’re here for the first time, a fishing boat from the River Boy Hamlet shore will take you to Okishima.
The Legendary Namazu Mount can be collected from a chest in an underwater cavern on the western shoreline of the Okishima Island, west of the Okishima Kakurega. Ride along the shore to find a large bonfire beside a wrecked boat, usually with a few bandits milling around, so kill them first if you encounter.
Stand on the lakebank between the bonfire and the cherry blossom tree, dive into the water from there, and swim straight down. Once underwater, turn toward the island and follow the entrance through the stone wall. A narrow tunnel opens beneath the ledges, which is the hidden cave. There’s not much breathing room in water, so move through the tunnel fast until it widens into a cavern chamber. There’s an air pocket here where you should stop for a while to refill your stamina before diving again.
On the cavern ground below, you’ll find a Legendary Chest containing the Legendary Horse Namazu Mount.
How to Equip the Namazu Mount
Open the Inventory and select the Mount slot next to the secondary weapon. Every mount you’ve unlocked, including Namazu, will appear in this menu. Choose the Namazu Mount to equip it. Since the creature’s body shape differs from normal horses, you can’t apply saddles or mount cosmetics on this horse—what you see is what you get.
What is the Namazu Mount
The Namazu takes its inspiration from the giant catfish in Japanese legends—huge creatures you’d find in rivers, considered responsible for earthquakes and strange happenings beneath the water. You see the myth come through in the mount’s design: the scales, the long whiskers hanging from its face, and the muddy colors that resemble the water near Lake Biwa. Even the in-game description hints at its water-loving roots.
Looks aside, the Namazu is exactly like a regular horse with the same speed, turns, and everything. Don’t expect it to pull off any water moves—it won’t swim across deep lakes. If you try to push it too far, Yasuke or Naoe will end up taking a swim.
