Your weapon loadout has a say in which way battles go in Phantom Blade Zero. Soul fights with two primary weapons and two secondary Phantom Edges equipped at once. Because swapping main weapons during the combo strikes recharges your Sha-Chi meter, treating the second weapon slot as passive space ruins your offensive output. From fast dual blades that break posture to giant cleavers to crush armored vanguards, finding the right weapons and knowing where to hunt them down is the only way to survive the ruthless Wulin.
There are 30 weapons in Phantom Blade Zero you can get throughout the campaign. While a handful are handed to you along the main path, the strongest blades are gated behind secret quests, optional bosses, hidden Discordance areas, and the late-game Soul Temper. This guide will explain all weapon types you can unlock, their combat abilities, and how to upgrade them. Click any weapon name in the table below to open that weapon’s page for more details on it.
Weapon Slots and Weapon Types

The combat loadout in Phantom Blade Zeo is split into two categories:
- Primary Weapons are used for light attacks, heavy strings, posture damage, and Sha‑Chi abilities. Soul always carries two firearms at once and can swap between them on the fly. Primary weapons fall into three archetypes:
- One-Handed Swords: Balanced reach, reliable parry frames, and steady pressure on a single target.
- Dual-Wield Blades: Blistering attack speed, high hit counts, and unmatched posture shredding against staggered foes.
- Two-Handed / Heavy Weapons: Slower swing cadence balanced by powerful Guard Break and hyper-armor damage to batter through shields and armored enemies.
- Phantom Edges are specialized secondary contraptions equipped in dedicated tool slots that consume charges restored at Bells. Beyond burst attacks, projectile fire, and crowd‑control spells, many of them also let you destroy barricades, grapple across chasms, or cut iron chains.
Later in the campaign, you unlock the Soul Temper system. By bringing specific catalyst materials to the Forge, some base weapons permanently evolve into upgraded variants, like forging the starter Sanguine into the fire-imbued Infernal Rouge, which advances their move properties and scale caps.

The Aureate is the strongest posture-breaking sword in Phantom Blade Zero, but it’s hard-locked behind the True Ending. You must satisfy all faction and memory requirements to face Zuo Shang in his final encounter. The weapon drops with its Soul Temper upgrade materials right after the credits roll.
Weapons can be upgraded up to Rank 25 by spending Remnant Dust, Twinned Metal, and Solvents at the Forge. The milestone thresholds at levels 5, 10, 15, and 25 unlock amazing perks that can be anything from elemental blade coats to passive archetype buffs that apply across every weapon in that specific class.
Early on, you can experiment freely around firearms since weapons can be reset between Level 1 and Level 9 at any Bell or Forgemaster completely free of charge. This refunds all invested Remnant Dust and crafting materials, letting you test out movesets and scaling on new armaments. Once you upgrade a weapon to level 10 or above, its investment gets locked in place. Reverting a weapon past this threshold requires a rare Weapon Reforge Talisman, so keep the higher upgrades reserved for the steel you plan to stick with.
