Millicent in Elden Ring is an NPC who come with an associated quest that leads to the collection of many useful items. To complete Millicent’s objective, you must play through a large part of the game’s storyline. It’s almost like a side story that unfolds right alongside the main shenanigans you’re up to. If you’re looking to see some different Elden Ring endings, especially after you’ve been all touched by the Frenzied Flame, you’ll want to give Millicent’s quest a go. It’s a wild ride in the game and it also gets you into the thick of one of the important secrets out there: the details about Scarlet Rot and the what’s the story behind Malenia.
When you complete the mission, you will receive the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Millicent’s Prosthesis, two of the most powerful Elden Ring talismans. By using these valuable items, you can increase the damaging effect of specific close-range Elden Ring weapons. To begin, your first stop is going to be Gowry’s Shack, right in the middle of Caelid. This walkthrough will explain everything about Millicent questline in Elden Ring including where to find her and how to finish her quest.
Where to Find Millicent in Elden Ring
The questline involves the visit to the Caelid area of Lands Between. Most of you can find this a tough challenge because of the harsh environment of Caleid as this quest takes place in this area – it’s a bit of a nightmare with the kind of creatures lurking around.
Talk with Gowry in the Shack
The first step of this quest is to talk with Gowry in Gowry’s Shack. You can find this place between Sellia Gateway and Sellia, Town of Sorcery in Caelid. If you are visiting this place for the first time and don’t know about it, the quickest route would be to take the roadway that begins at the far northeast of Limgrave.
Keep going on this path to reach Sites of Grace, get past the big gate after reaching the Southern Aeonia Swamp Bank, and move north on the road. You should be wary of the troll tossing boulders down from the hills. Upon reaching the other end, look to your right to find the small hut.
Go inside this wooden hut, and you will find Gowry inside. He’ll let you know what happened with Millicent and her Scarlet Rot when you talk with him. Well above Gowry’s wooden cottage, on the cliffside, there is the Church of the Plague, where he will beg you to help a sick girl who has been taken, hostage. You need to obtain the Unalloyed Gold Needle from Commander O’Neil because that’s the only way to save her life.
Get Unalloyed Gold Needle from Commander O’Neil
Aeonia, the rot marsh, is where you will find the Unalloyed Gold Needle while Commander O’Neil can be found in a vast root maze. The battle is not that challenging, and if you employ a Spirit Ash to divert the commander’s buddies, you can easily take him out. After you defeat the boss, you will receive the Needle alongside some of its specific items and weapons.
After obtaining it, return to Gowry’s Shack, talk again with Gowry, and give the needle to him. Gowry will instantly provide you with Sellia’s Secret in exchange. However, you’ll have to fast travel to the nearest Site of Grace, reload the game, and then reach him again. By doing that, he will present the repaired needle to you and tell you a bit of Sellia’s backstory, the Town of Sorcery. Proceed to the Church of the Plague to meet Millicent and start her questline.
Elden Ring Millicent Location: At Church of the Plague
Visit the Church of the Plague, located on the clifftop directly east of Gowry’s Shack. In the previous phase, you offered Gowry the Unalloyed Gold Needle, and in exchange, he revealed the Sellian secret that grants you entrance to the route. Limgrave’s Third Church of Marika, located at the city’s main gate, provides entry to the inner sanctuary.
You’ll come across a church protected by two Kindred of Rot if you continue along the path to the cemetery. If you want to avoid having these enemies end up killing Millicent while talking to her in the chapel, you should eliminate them first. As you enter the church, you’ll find Millicent slumped up by the front wall; that’s where you need to light the Site of Grace. When you deliver her the Unalloyed Gold Needle, she will receive it and stop responding instantly. Upon reloading the scene, she will be lying exactly where she was before.
By communicating with her, she will tell you about its journey to another location, and when you reload the game again, you will find that she is not there and has already gone to the next location. When you meet Millicent at this new spot, she will also hand over the Prosthesis-Wearing Heirloom talisman as a mark of her appreciation.
Go back to Gowry’s hut, and you will find her waiting for you but this time, you will not see Gowry there. She claimed she went there because of her longing to return to a place she knew well. But, she would declare that Gowry’s Shack is a distraction from her quest and then depart immediately.
Meet Her Again at Altus Plateau
In the northern part of the Altus Plateau, you will find Millicent once again close to the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace. You can spot her by going to Site of Grace’s north, she will be lying beside the cliff next to the rocks. If you talk to her, you’ll learn that she is following in Malenia’s way and that she thinks Malenia might be somewhere at the northern end of the Lands Between.
When the chat is over, you should collect the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis from the Shaded Castle, located in the Altus Plateau’s northern part. This item is a must to obtain because you can’t make your way further ahead into the mission until you get it and give it to her.
Get the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis from the Shaded Castle
Head over to the Shaded Castle, situated towards the north between Mt. Gelmir and Altus Plateau. You have to reach a small compartment defended by a Cleanrot Knight. Get inside that room where you will find Valkyrie’s Prosthesis – this item is your key to moving the conversation with Millicent forward to the next stage on Altus Plateau.
Get back to her at the Erdtree-Gazing Hill and hand the Prosthesis over to her. She will now express her gratitude and the possibility of future support in the fight by saying that she can now support you. Upon reloading the game, you will find her moved to the third location.
Defeat the Boss at Windmill Village
After you have defeated the Godskin Noble and delivered the item to Millicent, she will now arrive at Domniula, Windmill Village. The map features prominent windmills that help you locate this village on the northeastern side of the Shaded Castle. The Godskin Apostle can be a difficult opponent for some, though you will not have much trouble with him if you know his potential attacks.
Following the death of the Godskin Apostle, go to the Site of Grace and reload. There will be Millicent waiting for you once you are in the action again. By achieving this, you will have completed her quest’s section involving the Altus Plateau. Simply repeat your previous conversation with her until she reaches fatigue, at which point she will yet again argue that she is still holding a sword and ready to fight beside you. Find Millicent at the Mountaintops of the Giants
Getting to the Mountaintop of the Giants, on the northeast part of Leyndell, Royal Capital, is the only way to keep in contact with Millicent. Towards the south of Castle Sol and southeast of Stargazer’s Ruins, you will discover the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins, where you can speak with her. Have a chat with Millicent to find out more regarding Miquella’s Haligtree and to let her know that it is where she will be continuing her trip. Once you have finished conversing with her, she will go to Miquella’s Haligtree.
Head Over to the Haligtree
After gaining entrance to Miquella’s Haligtree, you must cautiously descend its limbs while avoiding bad massive creatures and tragic Albinaurics. You will start seeing a few buildings around the tree’s base at some point. If you want to face the boss, Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree, you’ll have to fight your way and clear out some other enemies. Once you have taken this giant out of the picture, continue to Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree.
To find Millicent again, head to Miquella’s Haligtree and visit the Prayer Room Site of Grace. While venturing inside this region is purely voluntary, the opponents you’ll face here are some of the most deadly you will ever fight in Elden Ring. At this place, you will find out how she intends to restore Malenia’s honor and the circumstances under which she became acquainted with Malenia, the Blade of Miquella. Find Millicent at Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree
To get to the final boss encounter with Malenia, Blade of Miquella, you must travel to the Elphael Inner Wall Site of Grace in Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, situated in the north of Miquella’s Haligtree. You’ll encounter a flock of enemies when you progress farther into the region. If you want to go there from the Elphael Inner Wall, you’ll have to pass the Scarlet Rot water ponds and then make your way to the Drainage Channel Site of Grace.
Kill the Ulcerated Tree Spirit Boss
Upon reaching the other side of the River of Rot, you will find an entry providing access to the Drainage Channel Site of Grace. It would be best to avoid this doorway by climbing the leftmost wall and crossing the cluster of trees to reach the pool of water in the south. An Ulcerated Tree Spirit awaits in this water rot at the bottom of a pit. Despite its ugly look, you will have to kill this boss before you proceed further.
Fight or Help Millicent
You will find two summoning stones at the end of the fight against the Ulcerated Tree Spirit. One of those is red, and if you use this one, you’ll be teleported into Millicent’s place, where you can battle with her. If you get the victory, the quest will conclude, and you’ll receive her Prosthesis talisman, which improves your agility and increases the damage you do.
But if you decide to use the yellow sign, you’ll be welcomed by Millicent as an ally and tasked with protecting her from four red demons she calls “Millicent’s Sisters.” By doing so, you will be able to carry on with her questline and receive the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia talisman that greatly increases attack damage with each subsequent blow.
After finishing this challenge, you should rest at the Drainage Channel Site of Grace and reload the area. Again move to the summoning stones, and you will see Millicent near that area. If you chat with her and again reload, you need to arrive at the same place where you met her, and you will now find her dead body on the ground. The Unalloyed Gold Needle, required to craft Miquella’s Needle, can be looted from her corpse.
Defeat Malenia, Blade of Miquella
To wrap up Millicent’s quest in Elden Ring, you will need to roll up your sleeves and get down to business in the Haligtree. And that means you’ve got a serious battle with Malenia – and let me tell you, she’s a kinda beast, FromSoftware outdid themselves with her. She’s like a whirlwind of slashes and thrusts that’ll heal her if they so much as nick you. So, it’s going to take everything you’ve got, and maybe a bit more. If your current setup isn’t cutting it, don’t be shy about mixing things up with character respec.
Beating Malenia might sound like a tall order, and truth be told, it kind of is. Most players don’t have the robotic precision to take her down without a solid game plan. The best thing to do in this fight is summon your Mimic Tear Spirit Ash for some backup, then go to town with Frost and Bleed effects.
Throw everything you’ve got at her and cross your fingers. And when you do take her down, that’s your chance to use the Unalloyed Gold Needle on the scarlet flower in her boss room. Leave it at the flower there, and you’ll get yourself Miquella’s Needle and a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone for your efforts and that will put an end to this long questline.
