How to Unlock and Play as Jin Sakai in Ghost of Yotei Most Wanted

Bring the classic legend out of retirement for one last bounty run.

Jin Sakai is back. With the launch of Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition, Sucker Punch introduced Most Wanted, a roguelike combat survival mode that brings Ghost of Tsushima’s legendary protagonist into Ezo Japan. While Atsu takes charge of fights from the start, fans of the original samurai can unlock and take control of Tsushima once again. Here’s everything required to unlock Jin Sakai and play as him in Ghost of Yotei.

To unlock Jin Sakai, you’ll need to spend 28,800 Coins (Mon) on upgrades like techniques, weapon enhancements, skills, or shop items within the Most Wanted mode. After that, you can pick him from the Hunter menu and take him into any bounty you currently have accepted.

This is how you can unlock Jin as fast as possible:

  • Complete bounties by clearing enemy waves and defeating minibosses leading up to members of the Yotei Six. High-tier bounties yield a lot more coin payouts.
  • Between round waves, select treasure chests that contain bonus currency rather than minor temp perks. Coin chests can net you enough currency that you’ll likely reach the spending threshold after 5-6 full bounty runs.
  • Invest earned Mon into the upgrade menu as you go. Spending is what counts toward the unlock, so every technique, weapon upgrade, or shop item you buy moves you closer.

Once total spending is up to the required amount, Jin will automatically unlock on the Hunter selection screen.

Jin retains his iconic combat repertoire from Ghost of Tsushima, ported and updated directly into Ghost of Yotei’s engine.

Weapons and Loadout

  • Melee: Sakai Katana (Storm Blade). You can also get access to Yari via specific perks to deal with sickle-wielding guards.
  • Ranged & Tools: Hankyu (short bow) and Sticky Bombs.

Combat Stances

Unlike Atsu’s dual-katana mechanics, Jin can switch between four stances on the fly using R2 + face buttons to break enemy defenses:

  • Stone Stance (R2 + Cross): Stagger and pierce usual swordsmen.
  • Water Stance (R2 + Circle): Unleashes flurry strikes that crush shield wielders.
  • Wind Stance (R2 + Triangle): Executes sweep kicks and heavy strikes to counter spears and polearms.
  • Moon Stance (R2 + Square): Heavy strikes and kicks that break large brutes.

Ultimate and Kill Streak

  • Ultimate – Dance of Wrath (L1 + R1): Consumes two Spirit charges. Jin will dash across multiple targets in quick succession, dealing serious damage and disarming enemies caught in the path.
  • Kill Streak – Ghost Stance (L3 + R3): Unlocks from the skills menu for 2,750 Coins. Once purchased, it will charge your Ghost meter whenever you score kills without taking damage. Activating it terrifies nearby enemies and freezes them in place, letting you easily execute targets in one strike.
