How to Get and Use From Nothing Diamond in Path of Exile 2 (PoE2)

A rare jewel that rewires your entire passive tree in Path of Exile 2.

From Nothing Diamond is one of Path of Exile 2’s most sought-after Unique Jewels, not because of its rarity alone, but due to how drastically it changes your passive tree strategy. This item lets you connect to skills you normally couldn’t reach, and changes how you plan your build. Getting the From Nothing Diamond jewel in PoE 2 is no small feat; you have to fight one of the toughest bosses in the game. Here’s how to obtain this jewel, its effects, and how to use it effectively in your endgame builds.

How to Get the From Nothing Diamond in Path of Exile 2

How to Get the From Nothing Diamond in Path of Exile 2

From Nothing Diamond only drops as random from The King in the Mists, a pinnacle Ritual boss found in the Crux of Nothingness arena. But you won’t encounter him early, this fight only unlocks once you’ve progressed far enough on the Ritual Atlas tree.

To face King in the Mists, you’ll need to use “An Audience with the King”, a special invitation item obtained through the Altar of Favors or traded from other players for hefty Tribute. Once you have it, use it at the Realmgate to open a portal to the Crux of Nothingness.

You need to fight him at +4 Crux difficulty (the highest Ritual level) otherwise, you won’t get the From Nothing Diamond from his drop pool. To get +4, either beat the King many times at lower levels or have a friend (or paid carry) level up your Atlas progression. The drop rate isn’t guaranteed either. Even at full difficulty, the From Nothing Diamond is one of the rarest items in PoE2. Expect multiple runs or a decent pile of currency if you plan to buy it instead.

Buy From Nothing Diamond From the Trade Site

If you’d rather skip the grind, you can purchase one from the official PoE2 trade site. Prices vary a lot depending on the Keystone attached to the jewel, such as between 40–80 Exalted Orbs. Always use the official trade marketplace to avoid scams, third-party listings can’t be trusted.

To find the jewel that fits your build:

  1. Type “From Nothing Diamond” in the trade search bar.
  2. Click Add Stat Filter and type the name of the Keystone you want.
  3. Select the filter that reads “Passives in Radius of [Keystone] can be allocated without being connected.

How to Beat the King in the Mists in Path of Exile 2

The King in the Mists is a very punishing fight that’ll put your dodge skills, situational awareness, and sustain ability to the test.

  • Phase One: The King uses curses and projectiles to lock you down. Keep moving constantly, or you’ll end up rooted to the spot. When he summons the totems, take them out instantly to stop the pulsing damage waves that’ll otherwise pick you off.
  • Phase Two: After the mid-fight maze segment (follow the wisps to escape), he delivers heavy AoE barrages. His Tornado of Mist is the biggest danger at this stage, which inflicts Armor Break, making follow-up hits deadly. Keep your distance, dodge-roll often, and use burst windows wisely.

Once defeated on +4 Crux, he can drop any one of these rare high-tier Uniques:

  • From Nothing Diamond
  • Ingenuity Utility Belt
  • Pragmatism Explorer Armor
  • The Burden of Shadows Chiming Staff
  • Beetlebite Velour Shoes

How the From Nothing Diamond Works in PoE 2

How the From Nothing Diamond Works in PoE 2

From Nothing Diamond is unlike any other jewel you’ll find in Path of Exile 2. When equipped into the passive tree, From Nothing Diamond creates a small radius around a particular Keystone passive, and it’s a different one for every jewel spawn. What this means is you can allocate any passive nodes in that radius without linking them to your existing path.

Rather than spending many skill points to walk your way to a key passive, the Diamond lets you get it right away unless it’s within range. It is a massive gain for specialized builds, especially hybrid or off-class setups that rely on distant passives.

  • Every From Nothing Diamond is linked to one Keystone and cannot be modified; all of them are corrupted on drop.
  • You can only equip one jewel on your character.
  • The radius is always Small, so you gotta be careful where you socket it — one teensy bit off and you might as well not have bothered.

This mechanic opens the door to a few truly wild builds. For example, getting Chaos Inoculation on a Strength-focused Marauder or moving to Pain Attunement with no need to path through an entire side of the passive skill tree.

For theorycrafters, this jewel is a dream come true. It allows for hybrid builds that were never viable before, such as high-defense spellcasters or melee hybrids with high elemental scaling. It’s also one of the strongest QoL additions to the passive tree since the original Jewel system was introduced.

But its fixed nature makes it a game of chance. The perfect drop might never come to you, which is why the trade market around these jewels has exploded since launch.
