How to Befriend Fu Lushou in Where Winds Meet

Struggling with Fu Lushou’s AI Chat at the General’s Shrine? Here’s the fastest way to befriend him including the working specific Fu Luwa prompts.

Fu Lushou is an Old Friend NPC you meet at the General’s Shrine in Where Winds Meet. His AI Chat is very picky, and he turns hostile instantly when you respond off-script. He wants information about the treasure hidden at the shrine, but building affection with him has nothing to do with the treasure at all. This guide explains how to befriend Fu Lushou, where to find him, and prompts that can always work in your favor.

Where to Find Fu Lushou in Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet General's Shrine Map Location

Fu Lushou is disguised as a wandering merchant near the General’s Shrine. During the day, he hangs around the shrine, pacing, muttering, and pestering anyone who can give him intel on where valuable loot is buried. To talk to him, set the time to midday, as at noon, he exits the building and idles outside the shrine. If you’ve progressed his quest or angered him, he may temporarily relocate. Fast-travel or rest to reset him.

How Fu Lushou’s AI Chat Works

As mentioned above, Fu Lushou wants a lead on a treasure hidden somewhere in the General’s Shrine, and if you fail to convince him of being honest, he considers you a trickster and becomes angry. Here’s how the AI chat behaves:

  • He has a very short fuse—even one wrong line can push him into a fight.
  • Resetting the chat is mandatory when he derails (click the Refresh icon at the top of chat).
  • If he attacks, exit to the login screen or fast-travel to reset him.
  • AI prompts are inconsistent, so even a correct sentence may need multiple tries.

Tip: The trick to successful end of his chat isn’t the treasure, it’s his family.

All Scenarios to Befriend Fu Lushou in Where Winds Meet

Fu Lushou worships his “big brother” Fu Luwa, a dog living behind the shrine. During the conversation, say that you know Fu Luwa, which will increase his affection towards you.

Fu Lushou AI chat dialogues to befriend - Where Winds Meet

Use these lines in the chat:

  • “I am a friend of the dog Fu Luwa.”
  • “I know your brother, the dog Fu Luwa.”

When this works, Fu Lushou’s attitude changes; he apologizes and turns to Revered (+100 affection).

Note: You don’t need Animal Talk skill unlocked for it to work. You can use these lines even if haven’t met Fu Luwa so far.

A second option for success is to mention all treasure hunters in one response:

  • “I went with Fu Luwa and Fu Lubao to search for it.”

It satisfies his obsession with treasure and brother at the same time, but it can take many attempts to work.

What to Do If Fu Lushou Accuses You of Lying

It happens a lot. The treasure Fu Lushou refers to is the underground shrine area, the dungeon that can be accessed through the hole in front of the shrine. However, explaining this rarely convinces him. If he rejects:

  • “There’s a hole below the shrine,”
  • “I found the treasure underground,”
  • “Let me show you the location,”
  • “It’s under the shrine,”
  • Or ANY map explanation…

He will accuse you of deception and attack, and that’s why the Fu Luwa line is the intended shortcut.

If You Already Found Meow Meow’s Bell

Some players confuse Fu Lushou with Fu Lubao, the other grave-robber NPC who wants Meow Meow’s treasure bell. Fu Lubao’s quest is unrelated to Lushou’s friendship. Even if you have already cleared the cat puzzle or given away the bell, it does not stop you from befriending Fu Lushou.

What to Do If Fu Lushou Disappears or Won’t Talk

Once you complete his treasure part, Fu Lushou moves to other locations including Path of Karma (Jadebrook Mountain), Gourmand’s Grove, and Path of Void. Find him at each location and speak to him to exhaust all dialogues to progress his wanderer storyline.

When all of the conversations are done, return to the General’s Shrine and interact with the dog Fu Luwa. A funny cutscene plays in which Fu Lushou and Fu Luwa become your friends.

Why the Dog is the Key to BeFriend

Both Fu Lushou and Fu Lubao treat Fu Luwa (a random but wise dog) as their oldest brother. When you mention Fu Luwa, it’s regarded as trustworthy information, completely removes the treasure-related talk, clears their suspicion of you, and changes affection to Revered. This is the best way to make Fu Lushou your friend in Where Winds Meet.
