There are 5 Mountain Reliquary Puzzles in Ghost of Yotei. These are scattered shrines across Ezo Island that test your ability to read riddles and align fox or wolf statues in the correct direction. Each puzzle centers around a mysterious altar linked to Mount Yotei’s legend, and solving all puzzles unlocks the Child of the Mountain trophy and rewards charms, cosmetics, and the powerful Charm of Mount Yotei upgrades. This guide tells all Reliquary Puzzles locations in Ghost of Yotei and how to solve them.
Reliquary of Courage Location & Puzzle Solution
The first Reliquary of Courage is in the western Yotei Grasslands, west of the Old Inn near the Sarubetsu River fork. You’ll find a small garden surrounded by bushes, with Mount Yotei visible in the distance.
Riddle:
A boy was lost and alone
But wolves came from every corner to guide him
Their eyes gazing at the true Mount Yotei
Solution: Rotate all four fox statues so they face directly toward Mount Yotei to the west. These fox statues are in four directions at north, south, east, and west. They are independent, so you can move each one freely without affecting the others.
Reward: Charm of Mount Yotei, reduces incoming damage, and restores minor health after perfect parries.
Reliquary of Strength Location & Puzzle Solution
You’ll find the Mountain Reliquary of Strength east of Ukara Forest on a rocky rise northeast of Ishikari Fork, above the Ishikari River bend. The easiest route is to ride north along the river until you spot a steep incline to the east. Climb up the slope, the altar sits at the top, surrounded by statues wearing demon masks.
Riddle:
The mountain raised the boy as her own
Demons looked away from them in fear
But the wolf watched them both, ready to provide aid
Solution: Rotate the unmasked wolf statue so it faces the middle altar, and turn the demon-masked ones so they face outward towards the fire. Each movement changes another statue’s direction, so order matters. Follow this exact sequence:
- Spin front-left statue once.
- Spin back-left statue twice.
- Spin front-left statue once.
- Spin front-right twice.
Reward: Yotei’s Shelter Hat and further upgrade to the Charm of Mount Yotei, increasing Atsu’s defensive resilience..
Reliquary of Resilience Location & Puzzle Solution
Found south of Prospector’s Camp and north of Nupur River in the Tokachi Range, this puzzle location is on a rocky hill near Serpent’s Pass.
Riddle:
Within the caverns of Mount Yotei, a lost boy surrendered to tired sleep
The wolves stood guard
Looking toward the mountain
Solution: Each statue turns another beside it, so you’ll need to experiment. Rotate the foxes until they all face the central stone reliquary pillar, not the distant Mount Yotei mountain.
Here’s the right sequence to complete:
- Turn front-left statue once.
- Turn back-left twice.
- Turn front-left again.
- Turn front-right twice.
- Adjust until all face inward to the pillar.
Reward: Yotei’s Charge Weapon Kit (katana sheath cosmetic) and Charm of Mount Yotei upgrade.
Reliquary of Compassion Location & Puzzle Solution
Travel to Sarobetsu Lake, northwest of Teshio Ridge. Make sure you’ve purchased the Hankyu Bow from Ran the Bowyer as you need it on the way to reach the reliquary. From the lake’s inn, go north through the Chilled Peak Shrine gate, climb up the frozen cliffs, and take the left path at the frozen lake to find the Reliquary of Compassion beside a cluster of frozen trees overlooking the valley.
Riddle:
The mountain took pity on the boy with no home
And lit her fire to keep the boy warm
The wolves gathered around, eyes on the mountain’s hearth
Solution: Each fox statue is frozen solid until you ignite the wood bundles beneath them. Use Fire Arrows from your Hankyu to light all four, spare arrows rest in a rack near the gate if you run out. Once thawed, rotate every statue so it faces directly toward the central altar. Unlike earlier puzzles, this one’s clean and simple — each statue moves independently, so no sequence juggling this time.
Follow this sequence to solve the puzzle:
- Spin front-left statue twice
- Spin back-left twice
- Spin back-right twice
- Spin front-right twice
Reward: Yotei’s Mercy Mask cosmetic and another Charm of Mount Yotei upgrade.
Reliquary of Faith Location & Puzzle Solution
Accessible only after you unlock Oshima Coast during The Saito Brothers questline, and it only happens once you enter Chapter Two after completing The Oni and The Kitsune main tales. From the coast’s main entrance, turn left and follow the eastern ridge upward to find the final altar.
Riddle:
The boy-made man crafted blessings of his own
So others born under Mount Yotei
Will look to the true mountain for strength
Solution: You can move only three of the four fox statues; one is fixed on a distant rock. The goal is to align all four so they face Mount Yotei to the west.
This puzzle’s trick is that one of the four statues, the one on the far rock, cannot be reached, but it moves by rotating the other. You’ll need to adjust the other three so that all of them, including the fixed one, face Mount Yotei to the west.
The correct input sequence goes like this:
- Turn middle statue once.
- Turn right statue once.
- Turn middle statue twice.
Reward: Yotei’s Blessing Dye for the Mercenary Outfit, the final Charm of Mount Yotei upgrade, and the Child of the Mountain trophy.
