Fortnite Players React to Hatsune Miku’s ‘Off’ Face in Leaked Images

Not everyone is impressed with Miku's look in the leaked images.

Fortnite fans have been hyped for some time about Hatsune Miku arriving in the game, but now that her look has been leaked, the excitement has a little weird. The iconic virtual pop star brought a lot of current in the community when her Fortnite debut was teased, but when players caught a glimpse of her in some leaked images, the mood shifted from “can’t wait” to “what’s going on with her face?”

The leaks came from a well-known Fortnite leaker Shiina, who posted two pictures of the new Hatsune Miku skin. Epic Games later confirmed the leaks with an official announcement, but instead of getting universally hyped, the community turned into amateur art critics. The number one target of their critiques is her eyes. Gamers think that the spacing or placement looks off. One Reddit user said, “The face is so wrong… The rest is solid but it’s incredibly distracting at how off the face is.” Another player simply called it “cursed.” Not exactly the glowing situation everyone has hoping for.

It’s not all doom and gloom, though. Some fans claim that the in-game version will look better than the promo images. If you’ve played Fortnite for a while, you know skins can sometimes look a little funky in the images but end up fine when you see them in action. Maybe once Hatsune Miku starts dancing and pulling off some emotes, you will forget about her “off” face and simply enjoy the thrill.

That said, others aren’t so forgiving. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit are busing in debates with statements about whether this even looks like Hatsune Miku. Some think she looks bored or plain, which, honestly is not what you want from a character who’s a global pop sensation. With all this buzz, you have to wonder if Epic will consider tweaking her look. But even if they don’t, players will have to decide if they can live with her as she is. For every person roasting her face, there’s another saying, “She looks great!” or “I’m just excited she’s in the game.”

If you’re still on board with the Hatsune Miku hype train, there’s plenty to look forward to with the Fortnite Festival season. The new Music Pass will drop soon, costing 1,400 V-Bucks or free for Fortnite Crew subscribers.
