Call of Duty Killer? Delta Force Breaks Records While Console Players Wait

While console players wait, Delta Force racks up mobile millions and daily users.

Delta Force has been steamrolling through the FPS charts turning heads on PC and annihilating wallets on mobile. But if you’re a console player and praying for the miracle, Delta Force sadly isn’t currently on PlayStation or Xbox. Despite earlier promises, the console version of the possible threat to Call of Duty is nowhere to be seen, and the silence is growing deafening.

Team Jade initially stated that Q1 2025 would be the magic window. Then Q1 came and went quietly and awkwardly. On February 20, 2025, the studio finally broke the silence, admitting they were punting the console launch further down the calendar. The reason? “Input fairness.” In other words, they’re still trying to figure out how to let controller-wielding couch warriors play without getting steamrolled by the keyboard-and-mouse elite.

Game Director Shadow Guo pointed fingers at the tangled mess that is UI optimization and balance tuning. Translating Delta Force’s complex Operations mode to console is harder than convincing gamers to stop comparing everything to Call of Duty. We are dealing with such a level of adaptation here.

Team Jade’s Studio Head Leo Yao further explained that Team Jade is committed to “quality across all platforms”—a noble sentiment, sure, but one that console players are hearing through gritted teeth while watching PC and mobile players rack up killstreaks in a desperate situation. In an interview with IGN, Leo Yao said:

Whether players are jumping into a quick match on their phones during a commute or settling in for a longer session with friends on PC, we wanted to ensure the game is both accessible and fun for everyone.

While console fans stew in limbo, Delta Force is over here being ridiculously successful elsewhere.. The game recently made over $100 million in mobile revenue, including $72.9 million during its China-exclusive period. That’s over $1.2 million per day since mobile release on April 21 around the world. The game also successfully attracted 12 million daily active users, which is the kind of number that makes Activision Heads reach for their stress balls.

If the phrase “Call of Duty-killer” used to feel like marketing fluff, it now sounds very plausible. Delta Force isn’t only nibbling at the CoD empire’s edges, it’s swinging a sledgehammer at the gates with a free-to-play business model, rapid-fire updates, and a player base that spans everything from hardcore tactical fans to casual mobile commuters.

Steam Success, Mobile Millions… But Still No Couch Time

Despite being fully functional on PC via Steam with good player retention and critical acclaim for its tactical realism and accessible gunplay, Delta Force remains a ghost on console storefronts. The irony? It might be the most “console-ready” shooter on the market if it ever makes it there.

Rumors are now circulating that a console release could be in the second half of 2025 but if Team Jade has learned anything, it’s not to set expectations they can’t meet. Console players have been burned too many times by bad ports and over-hyped timelines and the studio seems to be avoiding a Cyberpunk-style disaster.

So, is Delta Force on console? No. Will it be? Eventually, maybe, probably. But one thing is clear: even without setting foot on a console, Delta Force is already punching its way into the FPS hall of fame. It’s more than a mobile hit or a Steam curiosity but a full on contender. With the numbers to back it up, it doesn’t look to me that it even needs a PlayStation launch to rattle Call of Duty’s golden cage.
