With Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Treyarch and Activision have doubled down on shared multiplayer, but many players are still wondering: Can I play Black Ops 7 with my friends on other platforms, or am I still stuck in my console bubble? Crossplay is now a standard in modern shooters, and thankfully, Black Ops 7 hasn’t dropped the ball. Here’s how BO7 cross-platform works, what platforms it supports, and does it has cross-progression.
Is Black Ops 7 Cross-Platform?
Yes, Black Ops 7 supports full cross-platform play. So if you’re on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or even the previous-gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One), you’ll be able to team up with friends or square off with no limits. Crossplay was available in recent Call of Duty titles, and Black Ops 7 is no exception. It’s a good thing for matchmaking, too: fast queues, crowded lobbies, and no more reason to convince your friend to buy a new console only to play together.
Crossplay is enabled by default in Black Ops 7, but if you want to keep your matches within your own platform ecosystem—say, console players to avoid mouse-and-keyboard sharpshooters—you can easily turn off cross-platform in the Account & Network menu from settings.

Black Ops 7 also supports cross-generation, so expect to enter the lobbies with PS5 users when on PS4, and Xbox One players can party up with those on Xbox Series X|S. This setup is right for squads that don’t have the latest hardware, as no one gets left behind, and everyone shares the same servers and progression systems.
There’s no confirmed statement on a BO7’s Nintendo Switch 2 version yet, and even if it arrives, we don’t know if it would join the same crossplay network. But for the big three (PlayStation, Xbox, PC), all is well from day one.
Does Black Ops 7 Have Cross Progression?

If you like to switch between platforms, probably done PC grind one night and move back to console the next—cross progression in Black Ops 7 has you covered. All you need is an Activision account that syncs all your progress, unlocks, and in-game purchases, which include:
- Weapon blueprints, camos, and attachments
- Operator unlocks and cosmetics
- Battle Pass levels and COD Points
- Stats, rank, and prestige progress
When you log into your Activision account on another platform, everything syncs right away. You don’t lose progress or game content, and don’t need to start fresh. Even though the data travels freely, the game itself doesn’t, so you need to buy a separate game copy specific to each platform. But for Xbox users, Black Ops 7 is an Xbox Play Anywhere title—buy it once and play on both console and PC through the Xbox app or Game Pass.
Black Ops 7 makes it simple to control who you play with. Crossplay is switched on by default, but if you want to limit your lobbies, disable crossplay in settings. Console players who worry about PC advantage or hackers can turn it off to join only console lobbies, while PC gamers can keep it enabled for fast matchmaking. The flexibility is the same introduced in previous Call of Duty titles, and the developers put the ball in your hands to do whatever you want for a fair setup.
