What Pardon Parades are in Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet Pardon Parade

When someone commits crimes in Where Winds Meet, like stealing, property damage, assault, or murder, they can get arrested and thrown into jail. After being locked up, they have a few options to deal with their sentence, and Pardon Parades are one of them. It’s a public procession where a jailed player is dragged through the streets in a wooden cage, pulled by a horse with guards on each side. Other Where Winds Meet players from around the world can join these events to watch and even participate by pelting the cage with food to bring further humiliation.

The 10-minute ceremony is based on traditional Chinese justice, which prioritized public shame over lengthy incarceration (or prison stays). This concept dates back to the Spring and Autumn period around 500 BCE, and social punishments remained a standard for the legal system through subsequent Chinese dynasties.

To enter a Pardon Parade, look for the golden bird icon labeled “Time Limited” in the top-left corner of the screen. Not specific, but it usually unlocks very early in the game, around level 10 during the campaign.

Parades List - Where Winds Meet

Click that icon, select “Pardon Parade in Progress” to see all currently active parades. With millions of players in the game, you will likely find multiple parades whenever you check it out. Pick any Pardon Parade that’s still in progress, and you’ll teleport straight to the world at the punishment scene. Each parade caps participation, so some can be full, but you can continue to pick another from the list until you have joined one.

Note: On PS5, press the Options button, scroll to the very top using the directional pad, then click on the leftmost orange icon to access parades section.

Once teleported into the world, follow the red marker to approach the prisoner cart and choose “Public Procession” when the prompt appears to participate. Throw eggs or vegetables at the prisoner—you need to land 10 throws to complete your participation and receive the following rewards:

  • Jade Fish x500
  • Coins x3500
  • Adventure Slips x30
  • Exp x2000

You can only claim Pardon Parade rewards 5 times every week. After that, it’s possible to join as many parades as you want, but there will be no perks for your trouble. Moreover, don’t get too close to the cart because the throws won’t work if you stand very close to the criminal. You will also see the on-screen notification for it.

How to Use Pardon Parades to Reduce Your Own Sentence

Prison cell scene in Where Winds Meet

If you get arrested in Where Winds Meet, open the menu when inside the cell and select “Pardon Parade” in the upper-right corner. Choose “Go to Parade,” and you’ll be taken into your own cart for the Pardon Parade sentence, where other players will throw vegetables and eggs on your cart.

Each parade eliminates 60 minutes from your detention time. Players who throw food at you speed up the parade itself, as one throw takes off half a second to a full second from the 10-minute timer, and a well attended parade might finish in just 7-8 minutes. For first or second crimes in Where Winds Meet, one Pardon Parade usually is more than enough for your complete punishment. Repeat offenders with longer jail terms might need multiple parole hearings or other ways to get bail from the prison.
