How to Get & Use Afterglow Pendant in Where Winds Meet

How to unlock the movement system the game never explains clearly and activate your Lightness Skills in Qinghe.

The Afterglow Pendant is an important Mode Unlock item in Where Winds Meet. It doesn’t give you a Lightness Skill by itself, but it’s the key that activates every major Lightness ability—Meteor Flight, gliding, wall-running—in the Qinghe region. If you’re wondering why your newly learned lightness technique isn’t working, or why Meteor Flight keeps sputtering out, it’s because the game first wants you to earn the Afterglow Pendant to use these Mystic Skills. Here’s how to get it and what it unlocks.

How to Get the Afterglow Pendant in Where Winds Meet

Reach Qinghe Exploration Level 4

The Afterglow Pendant is unlocked through exploration, not a quest or a chest. You will earn it automatically after you reach Qinghe Area Exploration Level 4 (4,000 Exploration EXP) in the region.

Everything you do inside the Qinghe contributes, like when you:

  • Open chests
  • Visit Boundary Stones (for fast travel and counts as rest)
  • Complete side quests
  • Solve oddities and puzzles
  • Clear outposts and defeat bosses for the first time
  • Loot collectibles and play local minigames

It’s as easy as normal exploration through the region, but it takes a lot of time if you ignore regional content. To track your progress, open the Map, click the region name/level on the left, where you’ll see the EXP bar and the milestone rewards.

Afterglow Pendant alone is not enough to unlock Qinghe Lightness Skills. You must complete the Afterglow Jianghu Legacy first, because Master Qiu Yuehai whom you meet during the quest, enables the region’s lightness system.

Once you’ve earned the pendant, return to the fisherman at Moonveil Mountain and select “I found it” during the dialogue. It allows you to tell Master Qiu that you have obtained the Afterglow Pendant, which will finalize the Afterglow Legacy’s movement unlock. Only then can you use Meteor Flight and other Lightness Skills throughout Qinghe.

Region-Locked Lightness Skills: Every region has its own Afterglow Pendant or equivalent you must unlock to use Meteor Flight. The Qinghe pendant only activates Lightness Skills in Qinghe. If you travel to Kaifeng or other regions, you will need to reach that region’s exploration level requirement. Hitting Qinghe Exploration Level 4 also nets you Echo Jade, Softweave Dye Powder, and Oscillating Jade.

WWM - Meteor Flight Lightness Skill

Afterglow Pendant doesn’t grant a Lightness Skill. Instead, it activates them in Qinghe, so with the item active, you can use any of these Wuxia moves you’ve learned, including:

  • Meteor Flight – spear-assisted multi-jump
  • Thousand-Mile Flight – long-range air travel
  • Fan Glider – standard glider flight
  • Wind Rider – windriding traversal
  • Abyss Dive, Mighty Drop, Skywalk Dash, and other core movement tools

You can earn the Mystic Art Lightness skills through quests, exploration milestones, or oddities. The pendant also enables Wallstride skills in Qinghe, including Swiftstride (which lets you vault walls during wall-running) and Shadowdash (which allows you to run on water and improve sprint maneuverability). Wallstride skills come from the Oddities NPC, unlocked through the Melody Hunt oddity chain. The Afterglow Pendant is what allows the game to activate them in the open world.
