March of the Dead is a 05 Jianghu Legacy in Lost Chapter of Where Winds Meet that places you into the closed “Ghost Hour” version of Ghostlight Market, a fog-choked maze full of lanterns, patrolling spirits, and three relics you must find to proceed. The game gives you vague hints, but finding the Mountain Armor, Battle Helmet, and Iron Spear locations is a challenge. Our Where Winds Meet guide shows where to find all three items and complete the March of the Dead legacy quest.
How to Start March of the Dead in Where Winds Meet
March of the Dead only unlocks after you complete the Worldly Affairs Bounty Trouble quest. Bounty Trouble starts at Riverside Station in Qinghe, where you need to speak with the NPCs beside the bulletin board and then interact with the board to trigger it.
During the quest, you get kidnapped by Unbound Cavern members inside the temple and taken by traffickers to the Ghostlight Market in Kaifeng. Once Bounty Trouble ends, open the right-side menu and switch the in-game time to Mao Hour (6 AM). The regular, lively market street will fade into mist, and the March of the Dead version will activate.
Talk to Liu Changsheng near the entrance at the starting point, and he will task you to locate three items: Mountain Armor, Battle Helmet, and Iron Spear.
Note: If you switch the time away from Mao hour, it temporarily reverts the market to its normal state and quest state fails, but changing it back to Mao lets you to play from last ongoing quest objective.
The entire Ghostlight Market area is filled with Nether Mist, which drains HP very fast if the bar fills up. Stay closer to the green lanterns you will see all around the market to avoid the mist effect and plan your routes moving from lantern to lantern. Spectral Soldiers patrol main paths, so stay away from them as they can one-shot you to death, and you’ll respawn at the initial point at Liu Changsheng’s place.
Mountain Armor Location
Facing the street, take the right path downhill behind Liu Changsheng. Follow the lantern trail moving upstairs until you come across a cat on the right and the stairs next to her leading to another cat above.
Turn left to go toward the riverbank, where you’ll find Jin Yunhai on a raft. Speak to him to trigger the waypoint for the armor. You will also see the marker that points you to the exact location.
Follow the water lanterns float along the river. Stick close to the shore or swim along lanterns until you reach a rock outcrop with a chest and open it to collect the Mountain Armor.
Battle Helmet Location
Backtrack to Liu Changsheng following the same way you came to the river. This time, turn left from Changsheng’s end and follow the path through the small stairs set, turning a little to the right.
You will arrive at a stall with Nan Lugong sitting behind it. Speak to him who will reveal the Battle Helmet direction.
From Nan Lugong’s stall, take the right going lantern-lit path deep into the mist while avoiding the Spectral Soldiers. It leads you to the Phantoms’ Hollow with a chest on a wooden raft, so open it to get the Battle Helmet. If you alert an enemy soldier, lure them into the water to drown them to death.
Iron Spear Location
Return to Nan Lugong’s stall and stand while facing it, move up the stairs beside it.
Exit the stairs above, keep moving on the path until you come across a lantern and stairs on the left.
Go upstairs and follow left once on top, where you’ll reach a wooden bridge on the left with a Spectral Soldier in the middle.
Ignore the bridge and move on the path to find Xiang Gutong beside a lantern. Speak with him to mark the spear location.
Standing near Gutong, you will spot a few soldiers in front, and the Spear chest is just behind them. Move fast or jump, sprint in to get past the enemies, open the chest to collect the Iron Spear, and retreat quickly before they attack.
Deliver the Items to Liu Changsheng
Return to Liu Changsheng at the same place and hand over all three items. He will reward you with the Spectral Soldier Armor, which:
- Makes Spectral Soldiers ignore you (unless you hit them)
- Prevents Nether Mist buildup
- Allows access to the Ghost Gate
Equip the armor, then your character will collapse and awaken in spirit form, which allows you to move freely between the soldiers.
Follow the Spectral Soldiers Procession
From Liu Changsheng’s place, look for the procession of Spectral Soldiers and join the formation. Follow them uphill towards the right through the market.
They lead to a torch-lit cave and the Ghost Gate, which you can now open thanks to the armor. Inside is the Eternal Rest (Ancesters’ Resting Place) chamber. Speak to Liu again to trigger the final task.
Defeat Zhu Yousheng
Zhu Yousheng is the founder of the Nine Mortal Ways sect, a spear-focused spirit warrior with wide sweeps and overhead strikes. Parry the horizontal swings, dodge the vertical ones, then punish with counters. Once defeated, loot his body for 75 Coins, 1x Wolframite Weight, and 1x Bluestone Lock.
Speak to Liu Changsheng one last time to finish the March of the Dead quest and return to the normal Ghostlight Market.
