All Battlefield 6 Classes Explained

Battlefield 6 brings teamwork, tools, and real roles again with basic classes return.

After Battlefield 2042’s “everyone’s-a-specialist” experiment fell flat, Battlefield 6 is back to classics with the return of original four classes—Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon. Each class is rebuilt with modern twists, including new gadgets, updated weapons, and traits that make them advanced and more defined than ever.

Anything you want to do, like to charge straight into explosions, patch up teammates mid-fight, keep tanks running, or quietly remove helmets from 300 meters away headshots, there’s a class that fits your battlefield personality. In this guide, I’ll explain every Battlefield 6 class in detail — what they do, what gear they bring, and how to use them effectively (and not only as respawn fodder).

Battlefield 6 Classes & Best Loadouts

ClassStrengthsWeaknessesBest Gadgets / Loadout Tips
AssaultExcellent anti-infantry, fast mobility, great for objective pushes.Weak against vehicles and long-range fights.Equip M320A1 HE grenade launcher + Adrenaline Injector; use Assault Rifles with fast ADS attachments. Carry flash or smoke grenades for entry.
EngineerDominates vehicle warfare, essential for map control.Struggles on infantry-heavy maps.Run RPG-7V2 or MBT-LAW for armor kills; pair with EOD Bot for repairs and sabotage. SMGs with laser sights make you deadly up close.
SupportKeeps team alive and supplied; can hold points solo.Vulnerable to long-range fire during revive or resupply.Carry Defibrillators + Supply Bag; use LMGs with bipods for suppression. Equip Deployable Cover for field revives.
ReconExcellent map awareness, snipe, and mark targets.Poor at close range; dependent on good positioning.Combine Motion Sensor with Laser Designator or Recon Drone. Use C4 to handle vehicles. Run a DMR if you prefer mid-range mobility.

Battlefield 6 Assault Class

Battlefield 6 Assault Class

If your philosophy is “why hide when you can sprint directly into the explosion,” the Assault class is for you. This class kicks down doors, clears buildings, and pushes objectives when everyone else is too busy taking cover.

Role: Anti-Infantry & Objective Pusher

The Assault’s job is to get in fast and stay alive long enough to create tension on the battlefield. They specialize in breaking defenses and reviving the push when your team’s morale (and respawn timers) are low.

Signature Gear & Weapons

  • Weapon: Assault Rifles — fast draw speed and quick sprint-to-fire means you’re always ready to shoot first.
  • Gadget: Adrenaline Injector / Combat Stim — a temporary sprint and damage resistance boost that turns you into a blur of bad decisions (but heroic ones).
  • Tools of the Trade: Grenade launchers, breaching tools, deploy beacons, and the occasional incendiary shotgun.

Assaults are the spear tip of the team meant to draw fire, storm objectives, and take advantage of adrenaline-driven chaos. With field specs that let you extend your boost with kills and perks that reward close combat, it’s the perfect fit for the aggressive, objective-obsessed player.

Battlefield 6 Engineer Class

Battlefield 6 Engineer Class

Vehicles are the heart of Battlefield, and the Engineer is the soul that keeps them running (or the explosive force that stops them cold). You’ll either be everyone’s best friend or their worst nightmare, depending on which side of the rocket you’re standing.

Role: Anti-Vehicle & Mechanic

If there’s a tank in play, you’d better have an Engineer nearby. Engineers control the pace of mechanized combat, like destroying, repairing, and occasionally riding into battle like a one-person pit crew.

Signature Gear & Weapons

  • Weapon: SMGs — quick-firing and accurate from the hip, perfect for the close-range battles of vehicle zones.
  • Gadget: Repair Tool / Blowtorch — fixes friendly vehicles, fries enemy ones.
  • Other Tools: Rocket launchers (guided and unguided), anti-vehicle mines, and remote repair bots that can arm objectives or sabotage gear.

Nothing is more satisfying than watching a would-be tank ace explode before they reach the objective. Engineers are indispensable in any map featuring armor or aircraft. When things turn quiet, you’ll still have your SMG to remind infantry that you’re not only a mechanic but a menace with a wrench.

Battlefield 6 Support Class

Battlefield 6 Support Class

Every team needs Support. They’re the lifeline that keeps ammo flow, health bars green, and bodies off the floor. Without them, your team devolves into a panicked mob of dry magazines and desperate revive calls. Support is one of the main reasons your squad survives long enough to cross the victory line.

Role: Medic & Resupplier

Support merges two Battlefield’s classic and most crucial functions, which are to keep your squad alive and fully armed. You’re the connective tissue between the medics of old and the ammo runners of previous titles.

On attack maps, that means running supplies between cover while reviving half your squad under fire. On defense, it means setting up a mini fortress with ammo dumps, healing stations, and machine gun overwatch. Either way, if you’re doing your job right, your team rarely has to retreat.

Signature Gear & Weapons

  • Weapon: LMGs — large magazines, excellent suppression, and better mobility than you’d expect for their size.
  • Signature Gadget: Supply Bag — toss it down to resupply your team’s ammo, grenades, and gadget charges.
  • Other Tools: Defibrillators for fast revives, Deployable Cover for makeshift protection, and Mobile Mortars for area denial and soften enemy advances.

As a Supporter, position yourself near choke points or objectives where teammates will need supplies most. You can now drag downed teammates to safety before reviving, which makes you invaluable in open areas. Use smoke grenades because they are important to stay safe, and suppression still matters. Firing near enemies’ fires reduces their aim stability, which gives your squad breathing room.

Battlefield 6 Recon Class

Battlefield 6 Recon Class

Recon is for the patient, the tactical, and the player who finds joy in seeing orange triangles appear across the minimap like confetti. This class falls under sniper, and they’re information brokers who weaponize knowledge and line-of-sight. A good Recon player observes clearly. They make a call on how your team moves by controlling what the team sees.

Role: Scout & Sniper

Recon operates as your team’s early warning system. They detect, mark, and eliminate without alerting enemies. With the right gadgets, a Recon can monitor complete sections of the map, warn of armor advances, or guide engineers’ rocket launchers to their targets. If you’re perched high above the fight or sneaking behind enemy lines to deploy sensors, your job is to provide awareness.

Signature Gear & Weapons

  • Weapon: Sniper Rifles — built for stability and precision. Reduced sway, quick rechambering, and improved breath control let you land repeat shots at long range.
  • Signature Gadget: Motion Sensor — tossable radar that reveals nearby enemies to your entire team. Great for covering flanks, stairwells, or approach routes.
  • Other Gadgets: C4 for creative anti-vehicle tension, Recon Drones for aerial scout and mark, and Laser Designators that enable lock-ons for engineers and vehicles.

You spot a tank, your Engineer deletes it. You tag a sniper, Assault role flanks them. You may not be the frontline player on the field, but you’re mostly the reason your team wins.

Deploy a Motion Sensor behind your team before pushing an objective, or use a Drone to mark enemies camping on roofs or corners. If you prefer mobility, run DMRs or light snipers — these let you stay active while targeting enemies at midrange. Pair that with C4 for close encounters or ambush tactics, and you become a hybrid scout-killer who can hold zones solo in Battlefield 6.
