You reach Nayoro Wilds as part of the north journey on your way to Teshio Ridge during during first mission Spirits of Teshio Ridge in the main tale The Kitsune. Atsu’s revenge card will set the new Golden Ginkgo Leaf marker in the far north of the Tokachi Range at Central Ferry.

Ride northmost through Tokachi towards the south end of Great Lake along the right side of Nupur River until you hit the Smoky Flower Grove landmark. Ride between the river and the higher cliffs to reach the Central Ferry, which is at the northwest of Boar’s Eye Cave, the only crossing to the Great Lake that separates the south from the northern wilds.

Talk to the NPC Ainu elder, Huci, sitting by the campfire near the lake shore. She offers to travel with you. Choose “Travel north to the Nayoro Wilds” to trigger the short tale A Journey North.

When the boat docks, you’ll arrive on the southern edge of Nayoro Wilds, near the Ainu village of Husko Kotan. Your horse makes the trip safely, and Huci becomes Atsu’s permanent ally in the game. This unlocks the Heart of an Ainu tale, and completing it earns you new armor.

Nayoro Wilds is an open world with thick fog, colder weather, and a few hostile patrols. Husko Kotan will be your main hub, with a farrier merchant selling saddles and dyes, and an Ainu merchant dealing in masks and charms. Explore the central village tree to unlock the Opusnupuri Myth Quest, in which you just have to sit on the mat under the tree to listen to a story from the storyteller. Completing the quest earns you the Charm of True Aim.
