From the very beginning, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach builds its story on personal connection that’s literal and emotional. You start the game not with war cries or explosive set pieces, but with Sam Porter Bridges trying to enjoy a quiet, more grounded life with Lou. That peace is, of course, short-lived. As the first episode reaches its end, Fragile and Lou vanish after a sudden, violent intrusion, and what unfolds next can be said as the first real test of Sam’s resolve before the actual storyline begins. Read this guide to know where to find Fragile and Lou in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Death Stranding 2 Fragile and Lou Location
The turning point arrives right after you complete the boss fight with the giant BT in Episode 1. You return to find Sam’s hideout compromised by the soldiers’ attack, and that forces Fragile to escape with baby Lou. Unlike some games that spoon-feed you waypoints, Death Stranding 2 asks for your attention. You’ll need to think like a tracker, not a soldier.
Right outside your disrupted base, activate your Odradek Scanner — by default, it’s done with the left bumper. Rather than direct visual cues, the scanner reveals traces left behind. Carefully look for faint, pink-hued footprints as they are of Fragile. It’s easy to miss these at first, especially since your own tracks (in blue) might clutter the same terrain. Simply walk towards where the pink footsteps take you to find your duo.
The path ahead looks familiar because it cuts through ground you’ve already covered. There’s no prolonged combat or boss encounter at the end of this segment. Instead, following the trail will take you into a lengthy cutscene. It wraps up Episode 1 and ends at Episode 3’s start, also serving as a gateway into the broad narrative arc spanning Australia. Sam’s journey is only just beginning, but in that moment, finding Fragile and Lou, the stakes become crystal clear.
