Hogwarts Legacy is a magical RPG game that lets you explore the wizarding world in the late 1800s. You can attend classes, learn spells, make friends, and discover secrets. One of the secrets you might encounter are the eye chests, which are mysterious boxes with a large eyeball in the center. These chests are hidden in various locations around the map and beyond, and they contain a generous amount of gold. But how do you open them? In this article, we will explain how to unlock an eye chest in Hogwarts Legacy and where to find them.

How to Open Eye Chests in Hogwarts Legacy

Here's How to Open Eye Chests in Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy eyeball chests are not like the normal treasure boxes that you can open with a simple Alohomora spell. These are pretty much alive and they know you’re there, they’ll slam shut and even growl if you get too close. But you can open them but it’s all about being sneaky with the Disillusionment charm. You’ll learn this magic spell from Sebastian Sallow during the main quest, ‘Secrets of the Restricted Section‘. It’s a very handy spell for turning yourself invisible when you get close to the eye chest or it’s also perfect for sneak attacks on enemies.

Once you’ve got the Disillusionment charm, you’re all set to tackle any eyeball chest you find. But remember, stealth is key. You’ve got to be like a ninja – stay out of the chest’s sight, cast the charm to go invisible, and then approach it. When you’re close enough, you’ll get a prompt to open it. And guess what? Opening these chests is totally worth it. Each one coughs up a whopping 500 Gold Galleons. That’s a serious amount of wizard cash; you can invest it on new outfits, potions, ingredients, and all sorts of great items from the shops.

Hogwarts Legacy Eye Chest Locations

Hogwarts Legacy Eye Chest Locations

There are many eye chests scattered around the game, so keep an eye out for them and use the Revelio spell to reveal them if they are hidden. Some of the places where you can find eye chests are:

  1. Viaduct Courtyard, Hogwarts: Start at the Viaduct Courtyard floo flame and head up the stairs. You’ll kind of double back on yourself, taking another flight of stairs to the right. When you see wide stairs ahead, hang a right by the tall tower wall. There’s a left turn with stairs where our first chest waits at the end.
  2. Library Annex, Hogwarts: In the library, make your way to the back left corner. You’ll find the chest hanging out in the middle of the room, just chilling next to the bookshelves.
  3. Greenhouses, Hogwarts: Head to the second greenhouse from the left. The chest is sneakily hiding behind some plants on the right.
  4. Professor Fig’s Classroom, Hogwarts: First, fast-travel to Professor Fig’s Classroom. Once you are inside the room, head towards right next to the Floo Flame – it’s a straightforward walk. Keep going, and you’ll spot the chest at the end close to the wall below the window.
  5. Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom, Hogwarts: Start at the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom Floo Flame. Once you’re there, follow the steps to go below. When you reach the bottom, go towards the left and keep your eyes peeled – you’ll spot this Hogwarts Legacy eye chest near the corner wall.
  6. Bell Tower Courtyard, Hogwarts: You will spot the stairs on your left opposite the Bell Tower Courtyard Floo Flame. After reaching the top, take another left and climb the stairs ahead. Keep following the path, which means – you guessed it – more ladders. But it’s worth it because, after reaching the top, you’ll find the eyeball chest just waiting to be opened.
  7. Lower Grand Staircase, Hogwarts: Fast-travel to Lower Grand Staircase, go straight from there and take the stairs down. Next, take a left and time to go up another stairs. After that, you’ll find yourself in the room with a big statue there. Take a peek to the left of that statue and there, the eye chest is placed against the wall.
  8. Circular Room Past Sleeping Dragon, Hogwarts: First, fast travel to the Transfiguration Classroom floo flame. Once you’re there, do a quick about-face and walk through the left door into the North Hall. Keep moving forward until you see some stairs on your far right. Follow the stairs and go past the door at the bottom. Keep going until you’ll soon find yourself in a room with a sleeping dragon. Continue straight ahead along the hall until you get to a chamber stocked with barrels; from there, up the stairs and enter through the locked door on your right. You will come to a circular-shaped area once you descend the curved stairway. Over on your right side is where you’ll find the eye chest.
  9. Beside the Pond, Hogsmead: Ascend the left-hand flight of stairs from the North Hogsmeade floo flame, maintaining a leftward course around the water’s surface. There is an opening that allows you to turn around halfway down the wall on your left. As you descend the hill, you’ll see the eye chest ahead.
  1. Dogweed and Deathcap, Hogsmeade: In Hogsmeade, find the Dogweed and Deathcap shop. It’s the one with all the magical plants and ingredients. The chest is on a floor along the wall.

Hogwarts Legacy eye chests we talked about are just a few of the many you can find in the game. But there’s a whole world of them out there waiting to be discovered. Each time you open one, you’ll get a hefty amount of Gold, which is amazing. You can use this money to customize your character appearance, buy cool gear, or boost your gameplay in various ways.
